There are restaurants and takeaways galore to suit all budgets, so only enough room here to mention a few: Budget: The powder monkey (for breakfasts - it's a wetherspoon), various cafes in Exmouth town square, Exmouth Pavilion. Carvery: The Saddlers on the road to Exeter, The Devoncourt hotel in Exmouth and the Toby Carvery, Lympstone. There are a number of chinese, italian, indian restaurants and takeways in town and in Littleham (a ten min walk from the house) - where we particularly recommend the fish and chip shop! Garden Centres in Exmouth with good cafes: Kings and Greenfingers Cream tea: The Oak Barn (very close to home on the way to Buddleigh Salterton) and Tea and Tittle Tattle - Buddleigh Salterton. Special Occasions: Carriages at Countess Weir near Exeter (20 min drive)

Surfing, kite surfing, stand up paddle boarding, swimming, walking, cricket, tennis - the list is long and Exmouth has it all! Apart from the leisure centre in the centre of town that offers various activities as well as the swimming pool, there is a brand new surf school on the beach front. This 38 mile/60km path takes you from Exmouth in the west to Lyme Regis, Dorset in the east, and follows footpaths, bridleways and stretches of quiet lanes. The route passes through the heart of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), linking to the South West Coast Path, the beautiful Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site and the Exe Estuary. You can pick up short sections of the trail from a number of easily accessible points. Along the way you will find the traditional Devon thatched cob cottages, villages dating back to Saxon times, ancient churches, prehistoric hill forts, oak beamed pubs, leafy lanes and glorious vistas of rolling green hills. Just follow the sign of the foxglove.
