Neighbourhoods
It is named after Sir Titus Salt who built a textile mill, known as Salts Mill and this village on the River Aire. Designed by architects, Lockwood and Mawson, Saltaire has beautiful Italianate architecture and a rich history. Saltaire Village was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001.
Saltaire is a village where people live. You don't have to book to come here and Salts Mill is free to enter. There are shops, places to eat, wonderful architecture and a lovely park.

My Airbnb is a great base to explore Bradford district, It is very diverse with a cultural urban centre, to sweeping landscapes and stunning heritage towns – stretching across Airedale, Wharfedale and the Worth Valley. Towns in the district include Bingley, Ilkley, Keighley and Shipley with other communities including Addingham, Baildon, Burley in Wharfedale, Cullingworth, Denholme, Eastburn, Eccleshill, Haworth, Menston, Oxenhope, Queensbury, Silsden, Steeton and Thornton.
You can choose taking in the fresh air and natural beauty to invigorate you or engage with the heritage and culture which will fascinate you. The area enjoys two UNESCO sites, amazing countryside, combined with the former home of literary greats, alongside a city full with a rich and varied mix of cultures.
There are four unique areas which offer distinctive experiences You can walk in the footsteps of the Brontës in Haworth. Take an invigorating walk on Ilkley Moor 'Bah't at'. Spend a lazy Sunday with Hockney in Saltaire or take your seat for a West End show at the Alhambra theatre.

Brewing and beer
Situated in Shipley beside the Leeds and Liverpool canal and close to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Saltaire, they've brewed their way into Yorkshire hearts and beyond. Aswell as tours of the brewery you can visit their onsite Tap Room and Shop to try their beers on tap and to buy a range of beers to take home. Open six days a week, it’s dog friendly and bike friendly (you can even fix your bike at their tool stop), making their large beer garden a favourite destination for refreshment after a dog or bike ride along the canal.
You can also book to go along to their monthly Beer Club, usually held on the last Friday - where they showcase their own cask beers as well as a few guest brews. They also have a hog roast and often a guest street food stall. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
