We are building our dream on a 160-acre farm and vineyard in Celista, a small community on the north shore of Shuswap Lake in the Interior of British Columbia. We bought the property in 1995. At that time we lived in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, and for the next several years travelled back and forth to build our home and develop the property. We became permanent residents in February 2005. The first vines were planted in 2002 and now we are proud owners and operators of a multi-award winning winery. ,

Sightseeing

If you are looking for a short scenic walking moderate trail, the Margaret Falls Trail is the one for you. A 15-minute walk up Reinecker Creek through a rock chasm and over numerous wooden bridges brings you to the magnificent Margaret Falls. Water from the creek cascades down a sheer rock face and creates a natural shower - one that tempts many an adventurous swimmer in the summer months. Although there is a warning sign, numerous people climb into the small pool and sneak into the cave hidden inside the waterfall. Some also claim to see the image of Jesus Christ sitting on a throne, hidden in the falls. For those wanting a more challenging workout, try the Upper Canyon Trail. The 2.5 km one-way trail takes you to a beautiful south-east viewpoint overlooking the Salmon Arm section of Shuswap Lake. The trail then follows Reinecker Creek high above Margaret Falls to a bridge where you cross and return to the trail parking lot.

If you are looking for a fun family adventure, make your way out to Copper Island on the sunny North Shuswap for a day of kayaking, swimming, picnicking and hiking. First established in 1956 the Shuswap Lake Provincial Park is a full service destination park popular for swimming, boating, water skiing, sightseeing, canoeing, hiking, camping, snorkeling, wind surfing and fishing. The park includes an extensive day-use area and a very large campground with a good selection of amenities including a paved boat launch, adventure playground, a large grassy field, picnic tables, hot showers, pit and flush toilets. But the big draws of the park is the 1 kilometre long pebbled, sandy beach and Copper Island with its 100 meters of foreshore. The island can only be reached by water so launch your boat or kayak at the provincial park boat launch and from there make your way to the East side of the island where you will come across a small pebble beach with a sign marking the trailhead. The one-hour two-kilometre trail will take you to an elevation of approximately 135 meters where you will witness the most remarkable view of the North Shuswap. Be sure to bring along good hiking shoes as the trail can be rugged in parts and a bottle of water, The trail is moderate and suitable for people of all ages. There are some wooden benches at the top where you can rest and take in the panoramic view of the lake and the trail is lined with trees giving some much needed shady spots in the summer. The best part of this hike is that is ends at the lake where you can take a dip and cool down but it is a rocky beach so water shoes are definitely in order.

Watch in amazement each fall as the quiet waters of the 12 km Adams River welcome home the sockeye salmon returning to their home waters to spawn after the 4,000 km journey of their lifetime. This river is one of the most important sockeye salmon breeding areas in North America; important to local ecology and sacred to the history and culture of the Secwepemc people. The next dominant year of the migration cycle is 2022. Gather on the banks of the Adams River at Tsútswecw Provincial Park (formerly known as Roderick Haig-Brown Provincial Park). The 26 km of trails offer exceptional salmon viewing and bird-watching opportunities.
