A Must See: The Alamo’s 1836 Battlefield has been lost for nearly two centuries since that dramatic battle. The Mexican army tore down the compound’s outer walls in May of 1836. This left just two structures, the Alamo Church and Long Barrack. San Antonio grew up with the Alamo at its heart, with streets and buildings now occupying the site of the most sacred battle in Texas history. The walls enclosing the gardens behind the Alamo today, as well as the gift shop and other structures around the complex, were added a century or more after the battle.

San Antonio has several missions, but San Jose is one of the finest. Built in 1782 out of Texas limestone and stucco, Mission San Jose is the largest mission in San Antonio, earning it the nickname Queen of the Missions. Tours are available.

You'll never forget the underwater experience at SeaWorld. It is an opporutnity for a unique adventures, and incredible once-in-a-lifetime encounter with the most amazing marine life! Worth the short drive from home.

I know you'll take home that perfect piece of Texas culture to capture the memories of your stay here. And you're only 13 miles from Luckenbach and 28 miles to Johnson City. It boast the original neoclassical Victorian Lobby, fine antiques and artwork, the bountiful courtyard garden, historic photographs, and a guest registry dating from a century ago. Visit the place where Texas cattle-trading folks stayed a century ago. You will not only marvel at the architecture, you will love the cuisine.

When my husband and I want to celebrate Myron’s Prime Steakhouse is the place we go. And there are two in our vicinity, only 20 minutes from home. They serve Midwestern corn fed USDA Prime Beef which is the top 2% of the nation’s total beef production. Each short loin is hand-picked, dry-aged for 14 days, and then wet-aged for 28 days, a unique process that naturally tenderizes the beef and enhances its characteristic flavor. If you've never had select prime steak, you're in for a treat. Of course they have shrimp and other delightful dishes too.

BBQ is Texas, and one of the best BBQ's is only 20 minutes away. Whether you're having beef ribs,brisket, pork loin, sausage or prime rib, it all goes down smoothly with a cold beer. I personally recommend Cooper's as one of Texas finest - and Texas has a lot of BBQ.

If you like sea food, this restaurant is the best in my opinion. I go there for a variety of sea food: fresh ceviche, oysters on the half shell, seafood boil, and of course, their delicious shrimp dishes. I recommend it highly.

Golf Courses
There are many great golf courses near our home, but the beautiful golf course in the Westin La Cantera resort is a must. It was designed by Arnold Palmer and spreads across 225 acres (91 hectares) of green land. This Palmer course has several signature holes. Play a round or relax in its clubhouse with your favorite drink, while watching your spouse play a game or two.
