Sosua is about a 15 min drive from Cabarete and offers more tranquil bays to swim and go snorkling in.
Check out Playa Alicia for more tranquility or Sosua beach for more action!

Puerto Plata is about a 45 min drive away from Cabarete. Here you can find the fort, historic center and cable cart which takes you to the top of Mount Isabela.
Spend the afternoon on the "melecon" to lounge, swim and have a few beers.
There is also a great kite spot there!

Sightseeing
The 27 waterfalls are about 1.5 hours away from Cabarete.
Here you have to hike up to the top for about 40 minutes and then you slide and jump down different canyons which lead to natural pools of chilly water!
Very scenic tour and definitely one of the trip highlights!
This half day trip can be easily done by yourself with a rental car or by a private taxi. Both options will be a lot cheaper then doing it with an organized travel group.
Make sure you bring shoes that can get wet, shorts, tshirt and sunscreen!
A guide, lifejacket and helmet are provided at the entrance!

This surf beach offers waves for all levels of surfers from beginner to pro!
There are a couple of surf schools on the spot that offer rentals and lessons!

Head there, eat some roasted pork, drink a few cold Presidente beers and just lounge in the fresh water.
Great people watching and experiencing how the locals spend their Sunday afternoon!
