currently only open for take out, but it'sa quick drive over the bridge, they will bring it right to your car and it is super good!
I usually grab sake and beer from the Fresh Market when we pick up.

Fish Markets that also serves lunch... your kitchen is ready to be used, so take a leisurely 10/ 15 minute drive to the other marina in Wanchese. This multi-generational fish house is the real deal. If you're into fishing or just food you will probably dig it.
Several of the Wiked Tuna boats fish out of the OBX Marina, so you may see them docked. Just continuedriving passed O'Neal's, turn right. Park by the ship store.
You will also see in Wanchese some of the premiere boat builders on the east coast.

The Indian Village and the Settlers Village as well as the Museum with indoor experiences pertaining to settlement through present day, is definitely a blast for kids and adults!

First Fridays have music at the Gazebo, but anytime other than Sunday is a great time to visit... Food History, Shopping in an idyllic setting.

Traffic and Directions
Obviously driving on turn over days (ie. weekends), is the least fun thing you will do while you are here. If you're going to hit the Waterpark in Currituck that is definitely a mid-week activity.
There are 2 Roads: the "Big Road" and the "Beach Road". A lot of people give directions using the Mile Marker or Milepost. They get higher as you travel north "up" the beach.

Traffic Laws You Might Might Not Be Used To
Pedestrians really should cross at Crosswalks ONLY. Big Road Crosswalks are at traffic lights.
Drivers must always STOP at the Crosswalk for pedestrians on the Beach Road and in Towns like Manteo and Duck.
Do NOT pass a stopped car on the Beach Road.
Use Turn Lanes properly.

Please don't let the Air Conditioning out or the flies in! This is very important to locals. Get in and out expeditiously, and don't open the door until anyone you will be holding the door for is currently standing right next to you.

Getting Tables
Expect to wait at restaurants during the Season which is now a good bit of spring and fall as well as summer!
Just don't arrive faint from hunger and you should be fine. A lot of places have a spot to wait, and will let you grab a drink at the bar to take outside.
Consider is part of the beach experience, and you gotta figure, why spend your whole evening driving up and down the beach? Any place you want to go is going to have a wait anyway.
