FOOD SCENE
TUCSON is more and more becoming known for it's wonderful food scene. In fact, in 2016, UNESCO added Tucson to its growing CREATIVE CITIES NETWORK + gave the city the coveted title of UNESCO CAPITAL OF GASTRONOMY. But, not to worry! Along with all of this wonderful food, there is also an abundance of culture + nature to enjoy here as well. I hope you enjoy my hometown. - Max
TUMERICO is owned by a local chef who creates wonderful mostly vegan / vegetarian cuisine; it is all locally sourced, fresh, organic, raw, + very nourishing.
I recommend the AL PASTOR TACOS made with jackfruit; or the CUBAN for the less spicy version. And the TUMERICO LEMONADE. Really delicious! PS Both of their locations are closed on MONDAYS.

OBON is a local favorite sushi/ramen bar; very hip interior and the sushi is really delicious! Walking down Congress Street is always a fun + interesting experience, lots of local character to see.

(The story goes that this is where the gangster John Dillinger was captured! Check out the floor in the café covered with pennies. Really great food + bar. Local hangout.

TOHONO CHUL GARDEN BISTRO has a wonderful selection of really tasty food with a lot of local flavors. Try the PRICKLY PEAR LEMONADE (the color is an incredible bright fuchsia!) + MOLE or the VEGGIE HASH is really delicious. This former residence turned restaurant is made of 18" thick adobe walls, made on site, and Ponderosa Pine beams, brought down from MT LEMMON. Look for their HAPPY HOUR...

Learn about the different types of desert flora and fauna while you breathe in the wonderful healing scents of the desert...sage...creosote...
I especially recommend going after a Summer or Winter rain!

There is actually a tram that will take you up to the 8 different stops if you like or just hike in, there are lots of trails that you can take for your own meander. Be prepared to see some desert critters on your walk or run -- it is unfiltered, nature at it's best.
