Winter Swims
This is a great spot to swim all year round. Optimum swimming time is high tide. There are usually winter dippers here so you shouldn't feel alone. It is also a beach that allows dogs all year round. The groynes form a sections off that you can swim back and forth parallel to the beach which makes it a great place to swim.

Another great watering hole. You will have seen this in my normal guidebook. I've included it here, as it's a great winter swimming spot. You feel totally secure as it is a tidal pool, so when the tide is out, you have the walls to protect you from being dragged out to sea. It's also Grade I listed so a must to visit and take plenty of pictures.

Walpole Tidal Pool
Another great watering hole. You will have seen this in my normal guidebook. I've included it here, as it's a great winter swimming spot. You feel totally secure as it is a tidal pool, so when the tide is out, you have the walls to protect you from being dragged out to sea. It's also Grade I listed so a must to visit and take plenty of pictures.
After a winter swim, it is lovely to get into the Sauna with a flask of hot tea. A definite Experience of the South East Coast. It can only fit six comfortably so make sure you rotate if you can.

Walking
An old monastery. Well worth a visit steeped in history. You can then take a walk along the coastal path which stretches to Margate. It can be visited en route to Ramsgate or on your way home as it's just off the A299. Or even a visit mid break.

A national nature reserve. Great for yomping with kids and dogs alike. We even held a spooky halloween trail here, complete with buried box of bones and sweets, followed by hot chocolate.

From Ramsgate Main sands head East for a blustery winter walk when the tide is low, you can reach Broadstairs. Dogs are welcome across the whole way, unlike summer months where they are not allowed on the Main Sands between May-Sept. So take advantage of this time of year.
