Owned by the Duke of Devonshire Bolton Abbey Estate is a must for a good ramble in the fresh air. Parking is quite expensive so be prepared but the visit is well worth it.

Fans of Gentlemen Jack will recognise Shibden immediately as the home of Anne Lister the lady landowner. Anne was a woman to remember. A superb wooded estate full of wildlife and amazing walks. From a gentle stroll around Coppice Pond or a more challenging hike up or down the valley side. The smaller Baxter's Pond is dog friendly and there is often a doggy pool party in full swing. There is a tea shop, adventure play area and a picnic area. Look out for the chainsaw carvings throughout the estate.
