The Old Venetian Harbour is one of the main attractions for visitors with great restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. There is beautiful architecture along the water but also in the small side streets. The Old Harbour is approximately a 7-10-minute walk or 2-5 minute drive from AVLI house. The most beautiful route is to walk beachside from Nea Chora beach heading to the right from our street.

There are two bakeries in the neighbourhood There is also a great pastry shop located on Selinou take a right from Florence, just past a small park.

SINKA (5 minute walk) – Located on Kissamou Street. When walking take the first street beside the minimarket on Selinou and take a right at the first major road. SINKA is located 100m ahead. SKLAVENITIS (7 minute walk) – Located on Kissamou Street (across from Zara) as you head toward Chania City Centre. Fruits and Vegetables (3 minute walk) There is a great fruit and vegetable shop on Selinou. Take a left at the end of Florence.

There is a mini market with almost everything at the corner or Selinou and Florence (1 minute walk) and they prepare great coffee for takeout.

Car Rentals Car Rentals can be arranged at the airport, at travel agencies in Chania City Centre, and there is an agency located in the Nea Chora beach front. The Chania International Airport is a 20-25 minute drive from AVLI House. Please allow more time during peak times of day where you may find traffic on local streets.

Taxi stands are found on Selinou, and in several location in Chania City Centre. Taxi’s can also be arranged by phone by calling Hermes Taxi. Taxis can pre-arranged as well for specific times the same day or the day before. Hermes Taxi – 28210 98700

The main bus station is located approximately 7-10 minutes from the AVLI house. The bus station has buses leaving for local routes, tours, neighbouring beaches, the airport, the city centre.

The plants and trees need to be watered! We will be by to water plants and pick up fallen leaves evenings around 7pm every other day. We will enter via the courtyard and should not disturb you. If this does not suit you we are happy to make other arrangements.
