From the caves, a 2-km walk leads you through a picturesque karst limestone landscape across farmland and regenerating bush to a point where you can take in the magnificent views. Within the entrance to the caves themselves, you will find stalactites, stalagmites and glow worms. The Waipu Caves track is located off State Highway One, on Waipu Caves Road, south of Whangārei near Waipu. To reach Waipu Caves Road from SH1 take either Shoemaker Road, from Waipu or Springfield Road from the north.

A nice challenging walk up 420m to the viewpoint looking over the coast. Well worth the sweat up to see the beautiful view.
