Sightseeing
Just a short scenic coastal drive south, is the welcoming town of Laurieton. A small town nestled close to the water with a variety of shops and cafes, great waterways, close beaches and excellent opportunities for walks, picnics and sightseeing.
Well known in the area is The Plaza theatre, built in the 1950's and still has the old world charm of statues and velvet seats and an additional smaller Deluxe Cine Lounge for a more intimate theatre experience. This theatre has a fabulous history, part of which includes one of the earlier projector operators to be Baz Luhrmann and is said to be the place that sparked a career in film for Baz.

It's really worth the walk up to the Taking Point Lighthouse built in 1879, which is part of o long Coastal Walk.
This area also has great vantage points for the Whale migration from May to November.

The Koala Hospital is a well known Wildlife rescue service with a small indoor/outdoor koala rehabilitation centre with a gift shop and is open to the public for tours.......a family favourite to see these unique animals up close.

If you are not familiar with beaches and tidal movements, it's important to keep you and your family safe by being very water safe and try to keep within the flag area and on patrolled beaches if possible.
