It's a "100-foot-high steep-walled canyon renowned for its stunning rock formations, ancient white cedars, spectacular wildflower displays, grottoes, springs, and stone arches," according to Arc of Appalachia, the nonprofit forest preservation group that runs it.
Also visit The Appalachian Forest Museum. Open seven days a week, April to October, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Free!

Fantastic restaurant with steaks, burgers and surprising daily specials (try the monkfish if it's on the menu!). Excellent service in a historic building. They also run a brewpub right next door.
