Komárno je najväčším, najvýznamnejším a najzachovanejším pevnostným komplexom na Slovensku. Komárňanská pevnosť je jedinečnou ukážkou fortifikačnej architektúry 16. až 19. storočia. Možno tu vidieť bastiónový, polygonálny aj fortový systém opevnenia. Vo svojej dobe bola najväčšou a najsilnejšou obrannou stavbou rakúsko-uhorskej monarchie. Vzhľadom k svojej monumentalite a zachovalosti patrí medzi unikáty aj v európskom meradle.
