Chapel Cottage is a beautiful Grade II listed cottage, which dates back to the 17th century, and is located in the heart of the picturesque village of Bourton-on-the-Water. There are also a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants, making Bourton perfect for guests of all ages. The village is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!

Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade". Food & Drink Bourton has a variety of places to eat and drink, including cafes, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, with a range of prices to suit all budgets. The list below is a small sample of the options available: The Chester House Hotel and The Croft Restaurant (www.chesterhousehotel.com): Breakfast, morning coffee, lunches and evening meals in a riverside restaurant. You can enjoy freshly prepared, local produce throughout the day and night, with seasonal specials added to the menu daily. The Duke of Wellington (www.dukeofwellingtonbourton.co.uk): A local village inn aiming to provide fresh home cooked food with a friendly service. There is a light snacking menu, a full menu and a wonderful range of desserts and hot beverages. As well as daily home cooked specials, on Sundays you can enjoy a traditional carvery with all the trimmings from 12-6pm. The Mousetrap Inn (www.mousetrap-inn.com): A traditionally run Cotswold stone Inn, with a history dating back to the building of the railways in the 18th Century. Serving home-made food, along with fantastic, locally brewed real ales. The Village Restaurant & Tearooms (www.thevillagerestaurant.co.uk): Traditional, home cooked food in a friendly atmosphere, overlooking the river Windrush, in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water.

Comunicazione eccellente in ogni momento.

Soggiorno meraviglioso in una splendida posizione e appartamento accogliente.

The Cotswold Wash House nestles in the slopes of the Windrush Valley on the edge of Great Rissington. The village has a manor, church and inn; all the charm of a bygone age. The compact cottage combines antique furniture with modern interior design. You'll find a super kingsize bed with crisp, white 800 thread Egyptian cotton bed linen. The kitchen is fully equipped and we provide a generous breakfast hamper with locally baked bread, eggs, milk, cereals, jams, coffee and tea in plentiful supply.
This is a fully converted Wash House that once served a three hundred year old house. It's made of honeyed Cotswold stone and is set in the heart of our tranquil village. Made for two! The rear windows look out onto an orchard and the front have stunning views down the Windrush Valley.
This is the Golden Mile of the Cotswolds. There are country walks from your front door; river banks and villages of honeyed stone. Popular destinations include: Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold, Moreton-in-Marsh as well as beautiful smaller villages like the Slaughters and Bibury.

C'è un buon supermercato nelle vicinanze a Burton on the Water.

Bourton-on the water è a dieci minuti e merita una visita.

In alto! Altamente raccomandato.

    Rosie2019-04-29T00:00:00Z

    Sam2019-04-22T00:00:00Z

Welcome to Court Hayes, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Court Hayes was originally two cottages, which have been lovingly restored, to create a large and interesting two bedroomed property. The Cotswold stone cottage sits in the picturesque and peaceful village of Wyck Rissington, across the road from the 800 year old St Laurence's church, where the famous composer, Gustav Holst, was the resident organist between 1892 and 1893. Court Hayes is perfectly placed for exploring the Cotswolds, whether by car or on foot, and is close to the beautiful market towns of Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Court Hayes front door opens into: Living room: A beautiful room, with an abundance of character. Contains a large inglenook fireplace, with a real fire, exposed stone walls, wooden beams and the original flagstone floor. There is a Freeview TV with DVD player, a writing desk and comfy seating for four guests. There is a lobby between the living room and the dining room, with a door out to the garden. Dining room: Contains another inglenook fireplace, with an ornamental stove, wooden floors and wooden beams. There is a dining table with seating for four; Kitchen: Accessed through the dining room, the new, well equipped kitchen contains a 4 ring electric hob, electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, kettle and toaster. There is door out to the garden and a good sized pantry, which is also used as a cloakroom. The bedrooms are accessed via two different flights of stairs, one leading up from the living room to: Bedroom 1: A beautiful room, surrounded by exposed stone walls, wooden beams and a stone fireplace (not for use as a real fire). Contains a king size bed. Narrow stairs, with restricted height, lead up from bedroom 1 to: En-suite bathroom: In the eaves of the house, with exposed stone walls and wooden beams, contains a claw foot bath with shower attachment, basin and toilet. Stairs lead up from the dining room to: Bedroom 2: A large, eaves room, with beautiful exposed beams, which contains two single beds. There is a small shower room and a separate room, with a toilet and small basin. The large, enclosed garden is to the rear of the house, backing onto farmland. There is a patio area, with a charcoal barbecue, an outdoor table and seating for four. The lawn then runs down to a further, separately enclosed wildlife area, with a pond and a summer house.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Welcome to Bury Fields Cottage, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Bury Fields Cottage is a modern barn conversion and despite its rural appearance, the property is just a short walk from the centre of Bourton-on-the-Water, also known as the ‘Venice of the Cotswolds’, due to the River Windrush that flows peacefully though the village. Bourton has a wide range of traditional pubs, shops and restaurants and is surrounded by beautiful rolling countryside, and the many picturesque market towns and villages of the Cotswolds are all within easy reach, as are further afield places, such as Stratford-upon-Avon, Oxford and Bath.

Pitched under a canopy of Poplar trees, our 5 metre bell tent provides plenty of space for a family of 4 (we can fit 5 but at a bit of a squeeze). Sleep in our cosy double bed, and if the kids are coming we'll lend you some airbeds - you'll just need to bring some sleeping bags for them. Even though the site is offgrid, you can still take a hot shower and we do give you a charging power bank if you need to top your phone up in emergencies. We welcome up to 2 well behaved dogs at no extra cost. However, we do ask that you bring your own bed linen and towels and carefully pick up after your dog on the site. There are often sheep in the neighboring field so please be confident that your dog will be safe around them as there are the normal strict rules on the farm for dogs chasing livestock. To help you know what to pack here is what we'll provide for your stay: - Bed linen* and extra blankets (+ hot water bottles) for the double bed - Towels for 2 guests* - 2 (Optional) single airbeds - Lighting and bedside lanterns - Small mirror - Outdoor Kotlich cooking tripod - Gas stove - Pots, pans and cooking utensils - Plates, bowls, beakers, cutlery and that all important bottle opener - Eco washing up liquid - Tea towels - Kilner jar of drinking water - A free box of firewood (you can refill your box for a £5 honesty fee) - Local OS Maps Our top 4 recommendations you pack are: - Towels for any extra guests - Coolbox (you can chill bottles in the river) - Picnic blanket - Hammock (to put up in the trees) *We do not charge for you to bring dogs, but please bring your own towels and bed linen.

A short drive from the Cotswold towns of Burford and Lechlade, College Farm Cottage is perfect for guests seeking open space and tranquillity, with plenty of walking routes quite literally on your doorstep.
*Dogs: Up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage at an additional cost of £30 per dog. Please let us know if you will be bringing a dog(s) and we will then revise your booking confirmation. Introduction Low hedges, acres of flat green fields and an abundance of wildlife – these are the scenes that will greet you as you head towards College Farm Cottage. Situated on the expansive Bradwell Grove Estate, home to the Cotswold Wildlife Park, it’s hard to im-agine that you are only a few miles from Burford and Lechlade. As you make your way along the open fence-less lanes, you will almost feel as though you’re driving through the middle of the fields. Once you have arrived at the end of the farm track, you will find a delightful cottage with plenty of character – if you’re visiting in the summer months, you’ll even get to appreciate College Farm Cottage in all of its beautiful Wiste-ria–covered glory. College farm was built in 1771 by Trinity College of the University of Oxford for the use of tenant farmers as a source of additional income for the college. A working farm up until recent years, College Farm is now owned by the Bradwell Grove Estate, home to the nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park that exhibits over 260 different species of ani-mals – on a quiet day you may even be able to hear the lions roaring from the cottage! Although College Farm is no longer a working farm, it is surrounded by mainly arable farmland, all of which is organic. With a strong emphasis on conservation around the estate, there is plenty of wildlife to observe, from ground nesting birds to deer. You only have to step outside of the door at College Farm Cottage and you are right in the heart of unspoilt countryside, with bridle paths and walking routes running alongside the farmyard. Inside, the cottage is a lovely mix of traditional and new. The original flagstone flooring and woodburner add a touch of rustic charm, while there’s a new JVC Smart TV for guest use. Benefitting from a bright and airy feeling throughout, the cottage is decorat-ed in neutral tones, accented by quirky pops of colour and unique pieces of art and furniture. The back door opens out into a garden, while the windows boast views of nothing but green fields and the historic farmyard buildings. If you’re looking for peace, tranquillity and open starry skies, you’ve come to the right place. Despite its rural location, College Farm Cottage is just a 5-10 minute drive from the beautiful market town of Burford, where you will find artisan boutiques, cosy cafés, and interesting pubs. Walk to the top of the High Street and look back down the hill to enjoy one of the most exquisite views in the Cotswolds – and perhaps the finest ‘streetscape’ in England! Benefitting from the best of both worlds, College Farm Cottage enjoys a secluded location but is also the perfect location for exploring Burford and the wider Cotswolds. Please see the framed OS map in the sitting room where College Farm sits exactly cen-trally. In just a 5-10 minute drive you will find yourself on the High Street of Burford, a stunning medieval market town with plenty to offer. The excellent Co-operative su-permarket on the High Street stocks all immediate shopping requirements and is open 7am – 10pm every day of the week. There is also a Co-operative supermarket in Lech-lade, a 5-10 minute drive in the opposite direction to Burford, open 8am-8pm every day. There are some great cafés in Burford. Head towards the historic church and you will discover the newly built Warwick Hall and café, ideal for a morning coffee and snacks. Another good spot for a reviving cup of coffee or tea is Lynwood & Co on the High Street, where you can also buy delicious local artisan-made Sourdough bread and of course the famous Huffkins tea shop. If you find yourself parking in the main car park for Burford near the church (free parking) you will cross the mill-race connecting to the charming River Windrush that meanders through the Cotswolds, a lovely spot to feed the ducks and swans! Burford used to be a major coaching town between London and the West Country and was home to 35 coaching inns! The town still retains 13 pubs, of which some favour-ites are The Angel, a very good gastropub, The Highway and The Lamb on Sheep Street. There’s also a great variety of specialist shops to explore – including Maggie White and the fascinating Tolsey Museum. Alternatively, The Victoria in Eastleach, a very pretty Cotswold village nearby, is about an hour walk from the cottage and is a wonderful pub with good food, recommended by Emma and William. Also highly recommended - The Five Alls in Filkins and The Bell in Langford, both excellent pubs. All are popular so booking is essential. Around 5 miles south of the cottage, you will find Lechlade-on-Thames, a small historic town on the Thames, from which London could be reached by boat. With plenty of walks, a thriving market square, pubs, cafes and antique shops, Lechlade is slightly off the beaten tourist track compared to Burford and makes for a great day out. Here you will find a fantastic butcher, Cutler & Bayliss, selling high quality meat, cheese, fresh vegetables and bread as well as another Lynwood & Co café. If you fancy exploring a bit further afield, the beautiful ancient Roman market town of Cirencester is about 10 miles south and also there’s Witney which is an easy 11-mile drive east towards Oxford. Like Cirencester it has a great array of high street shops, larger supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, eateries and a modern cinema complex. Also, around 15 miles away is the renowned Daylesford Organic Farm in Kingham, a farm complex that offers a farm shop, restaurant, spa as well as other activities such as farm tours and cooking courses. See the Burford Guidebook for further information.

Grazie!

In the heart of beautiful Burford, Church Cottage has layers of history, curiosities and unique craftsmanship, including a wood-burning stove. The cottage has a large, secluded garden and a sunny Rose Terrace, plus off-road parking for 1 car, with additional street parking nearby.
Full Description Ground Floor Entrance Hall and downstairs WC Step through the red front door into the entrance hall, a compact space, but with plenty of room for coats, umbrellas, boots and shoes. Above is a Victorian clothes-drying rack, operated on a pulley system, with the rope wound around the hook on the wall - providing an efficient and environmentally friendly way to dry clothes. Open the door to your left and you will find the downstairs WC and washbasin, situated in the old ‘privy’. Take one step up through to the: Kitchen The well-equipped kitchen is a light and airy space filled with beautiful original features, such as the tiled flooring and half-size Belfast sink. The super-efficient ‘Everhot’ range cooker will be warm and ready to use and is fantastic for baking and drying alike! The row of cream cupboards opposite the cooker cleverly hides a separate fridge and freezer, individual bins, washing machine and dishwasher. The tall cupboard next to the door to the sitting room contains the microwave, and a full range of plates, glasses and cooking equipment. Before moving on into the sitting room, take a moment to study Clare’s collection of vintage tins in the glass fronted cabinet. With some tins dating from the early 1900s, this unique collection is the culmination of a lifelong hobby for Clare. Which one is your favourite? Through to the: Sitting Room A wonderfully cosy living space, this room is the heart of the cottage, with original painted wooden floorboards and beams, cheerful floral curtains, warm bright furniture including two armchairs a three-seater sofa. An inviting wood-burning stove sits proudly in the original brick fireplace, framed by oak bookcases handmade in Witney containing a selection of novels, reference and guide books. The perfect place to curl up next to the fire with a book in hand or snuggle down to watch the new ‘Smart’ television, located in the antique pine corner cupboard, along with a DVD player, Bluetooth speaker and a selection of games and puzzles. The room is very well lit, with subtle spotlights adding a touch of modernity while ensuring that the cottage never feels dark. (TV and DVD player instructions are in the ‘Owners’ Notes’.) French windows in the Sitting Room lead to the garden. Head through to the Dining Room via the cottage’s original front door: Dining Room The first thing that may strike you about this room is its spaciousness; for a compact cottage, this generously sized dining area provides plenty of space for entertaining. This is the newer part of the house, added in 2002, though it blends in seamlessly with the original style of the cottage. A fresh, light room with shelves displaying more gorgeous ceramics and original paintings, and of course, the centre piece of the room, a large dining table with ample room and seating for six. In the far-left corner you will notice a piece of furniture from a bygone era, a lovely antique headteacher’s desk. If you fancy some al fresco dining, the French windows take you directly out onto the sheltered Rose Terrace, with its truly stunning view of the magnificent west end of Burford Church. Head back into the Sitting Room to the left-hand corner where a door opens to traditional cottage stairs leading up to the bedrooms and bathrooms: Upstairs Upstairs Landing Once you are at the top of the stairs - take care as they are quite steep - you will reach the landing where you will find a wide wooden worktop that stretches the length of the landing. On top of the worktop there is a travel cot, baby changing mat and a little step that may be useful for teeth-brushing! Through the door on the right at the top of the stairs to the: Bathroom A bright and compact bathroom, with a gorgeous, original 1930’s bathtub with attached shower hose, W.C. and wash basin. Please note: the shower fitting is not suitable for use as a stand-up shower but is fine for sitting/in-bath use and hair washing. Enter the next door opposite the stairs into the: Double Bedroom With its soft, pastel-coloured walls and furnishings and comfortable ‘Queen-size’ double bed, it’s hard not to feel cosy in this charming bedroom with its sloping ceiling. There’s also plenty of space and storage, with two bedside tables with drawers, a chair, a lovely vintage pine chest of drawers, and a small hanging cupboard inside the door on the left-hand side next to the bed. This bedroom has a lovely view over the gardens and rooftops of old Burford. Further along the landing on the right and into the: Twin Bedroom Set up as a children’s bedroom, this charming room is sure to enchant all ages. Two comfortable single beds line either side of the room, with a large vintage pine chest of drawers between the beds. Above the chest of drawers hangs a captivating illustration of a rabbit family guaranteed to delight young guests, while the quaint little fireplace (not working) and patchwork curtains all add to the appeal of this cheerful twin room. On to the end of the passage and into the: Master Bedroom with En Suite Complete with two 1940’s chests of drawers, bedside tables and modern radio – the master bedroom is full of thoughtful touches. Lie back on the king-size bed and look to the ceiling: you’ll notice the lucky horseshoe fixed up above you, this came from the original front door of the cottage! The ensuite shower room has a walk-in shower, WC, wash basin and adorable little cubby holes for storage. This room has a fabulous view of the church and the cottage’s Rose Terrace below. The elegant converted gas streetlamp just outside the entrance to the churchyard adds a romantic glow to the Rose Terrace at night, and if you leave your windows open on a summer evening you will enjoy the scent of the roses in the bedroom! Outside Garden The garden of Church Cottage will take you completely by surprise. You will notice hints of what’s to come through the garden gate in the pretty raised border in the parking area. As well as providing complete privacy from Lawrence Lane and public view it is also totally secure garden, making it a wonderful place for children to play. As the cottage is south facing, the garden really benefits from the summer sun. It has fantastic views of the Church, and the most beautiful blooms of flowers along the long high stone wall during the spring and summer months. Plenty of outdoor seating is provided, including two benches, two chairs and a table, and a further bench tucked under an arch covered with clematis and roses. Please note: The ‘garden house’ at the near end of the garden is locked and not for guests’ use. However, guests are welcome to use the veranda and the chairs. If you smoke, then this is a good covered smoking area – with a perfect view of the Church. Rose Terrace At the end of the house closest to the Church, you will find the walled, sheltered and sunny Rose Terrace, accessed from the dining room or the side gate in the garden. This beautiful paved space is a real sun trap, and wonderful for al fresco dining, with an outdoor dining table that seats six, as well as a bench. Relax in this private paradise as you sit amongst the flourishing roses, ancient holly tree, and an apple tree that is probably older than the cottage itself! (Make the most of the sun in this area by using the retractable washing line fixed next to the door from the garden to dry your laundry!) Shed in parking area Opposite the red front door, you will see a small lockable shed. This is where the outdoor bins are kept. It also has some hooks - great for suitcase storage - and it is a good place for deliveries to be left. The key to the shed hangs on the overhead hooks in the kitchen entrance.
Although tucked away down a peaceful lane, Church Cottage is the perfect location for exploring Burford and the wider Cotswolds. In just a few paces you will find yourself at the bottom of the famous High Street of Burford, perfect for exploring everything that this stunning medieval market town has to offer. The excellent Co-Operative supermarket is a three-minute walk from the cottage and stocks all immediate shopping requirements, with a great wine selection. It’s open 7am – 10pm every day of the week. There are some great cafés in Burford, if you turn left out of Church Cottage and head towards the Church, you will discover the newly built Warwick Hall and café, ideal for a morning coffee and snacks. Another good spot for a reviving cup of coffee or tea is Linwoods on the High Street, where you can also buy delicious local artisan-made Sourdough bread. If you walk towards the main car park from Church Cottage you will cross the mill-race connecting to the charming River Windrush that meanders through the Cotswolds, a lovely spot to feed the ducks and swans! Burford used to be a major coaching town between London and the West Country and was home to 35 coaching inns! The town still retains 13 pubs, all within walking distance of the cottage, of which our favourites are ‘The Angel’, a very good gastropub, and ‘The Highway’. There’s also a great variety of specialist shops to explore and a visit to the fascinating Tolsey Museum. If you fancy exploring a bit further afield, Witney is an easy 10-mile drive east towards Oxford, and has a great array of high street shops, larger supermarkets such as M&S, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s, eateries and a modern cinema complex. Also, around 10 miles away is the renowned Daylesford Organic Farm in Kingham, a farm complex that offers a farm shop, restaurant, spa as well as other activities such as farm tours and cooking courses. See the Burford Guidebook for further information.

Burford is twenty miles west of Oxford and is considered the southern gateway to the Cotswolds. It is a beautiful old Cotswold town, famous for its sloping High Street, which runs down from the high Wolds, with beautiful views over the open countryside, to the willow fringed River Windrush, in the pretty Windrush valley. A fine three arched medieval bridge crosses the river at the foot of the hill. In Anglo-Saxon times, Burford was the site of a fortified ford on the river Windrush. The town grew to be an important crossroads and a wealthy wool town, which is very popular with visitors today. The broad main street is lined with dignified old houses, ancient cottages and many shops, all of which appear little changed since Tudor times, as witnessed by the precarious angles the buildings have come to rest at. There are wonderful little side streets to explore, as well as many old pubs, cafes and antique shops. The 15th century parish church of St. John Baptist is magnificent and is another sign of the wealth that the wool trade generated for the town. Food & Drink Burford has numerous places to eat and drink, with a range of cuisines and prices to suit most tastes and budgets. The list below is a small sample of the range of options available: The Bull at Burford (www.bullatburford.co.uk): The Brasserie at the Bull at Burford is a gourmet delight. According to the seasons, specialties range from the chefs homemade pork terrine or Asian seafood stew for starters to hanging kebab skewer specials to medallions of venison. Of the desserts the trio of caramel and the seasonal Eton mess are already a favourite on the menu. Since opening in June 2010, the Brasserie has been given 2 AA rosettes for Culinary Excellence and a special AA Breakfast Award; The Mermaid (www.themermaidburford.co.uk): Spanning two floors, this charming and charismatic restaurant maintains the original 18th century architecture, complete with traditional stone features and fireplaces, and old wooden beams and fittings. If you're a fan of intimate dining, you'll love the candlelit atmosphere upstairs, whilst there is also a conservatory area perfect for large families, and additional space in the general bar area. A varied menu is offered in the restaurant, with homemade food to suit all preferences and dietary persuasions. The award-winning bar has a range of excellent beers and local ales. Three real ales are always available, along with a changing guest ale.

Enjoy the shops, or visit the Motor Museum and Model village, all within walking distance. Further afield are many delightful Cotswold villages and towns including Stratford-upon-Avon, Cheltenham and Oxford or nearby NT properties - Snowshill Manor, Hidcote Manor Gardens, Warwick Castle and Sudeley Castle. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant 50 yards.
Forsythia Cottage is a two-bedroom (1 single, 1 double) Grade II Listed property and forms part of one of the original terraces situated within the peaceful backwaters of Bourton-on-the-Water’s picturesque High Street. The River Windrush flows through the centre, spanned by low arched bridges, flanked by wide village greens and lovely period Cotswold stone buildings. The village offers a wealth of attractions, delightful shops and eating establishments to suit everyone’s taste.
Eating Bourton-on-the-Water is jam-packed full of quaint cafés, renowned restaurants and traditional pubs to enjoy, all within a gentle stroll of Forsythia Cottage’s front door. Highly recommended is The Rose Tree, a cosy riverside restaurant boasting great views and even better food where booking is essential, as well as The Croft Restaurant at Chester House Hotel; another riverside gem with a well-priced menu of light bites and freshly-prepared mains, using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. An afternoon tea lover’s dream, Bourton-on-the-Water has options galore to satisfy your sweet tooth. Smiths of Bourton is a firm favourite amongst locals and visitors alike; a quintessential Cotswolds tearoom in every sense from the outside, serving up a freshly-baked menu of sweet and savoury treats as well as traditional afternoon teas. Nearby Stow-on-the-Wold also boasts its fair share of dining establishments well-worth a visit, including the laid-back Sheep on Sheep Street with its sourdough pizza specialities and The Old Butchers; a hugely popular eatery where booking is recommended. Walking Smack bang in the middle of the glorious countryside of the rolling Cotswold hills, keen walkers have plenty of choice when it comes to walks that lead straight from the village centre; just a two-minute stroll from Forsythia Cottage. A wonderful circular village walk, leading from the village’s Visitor Information Centre, is highly recommended and allows you to get to grips with Bourton-on-the-Water’s rich heritage, taking you past key sites, buildings and monuments as you stroll. For those keen to explore the surrounding villages, a circular walk following the Windrush and Gloucestershire Ways through to the villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter offers a gentle pace that totals 4 miles in distance; perfect for those not looking for anything too strenuous. More hard-core rambling fans should give the 9-mile circular trek from Bourton through Naunton and the Slaughters a go. Starting at Victoria Street’s Visitor Centre, this picturesque walk takes you through lush fields, chocolate-box villages and along the flowing River Windrush, with Naunton acting as a perfectly-placed pit-stop half way round to relax and refuel. Must-Sees Bourton-on-the-Water and its surrounds have a plethora of attractions to keep guests of all ages entertained, many of which are within walking distance of Forsythia Cottage. No visit to the village would be complete without a visit to the Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection (2-minute walk), perfect for kids and big kids alike, and home to children’s TV favourite Brum. The Model Village (5-minute walk) is also a must see, a perfect replica of the village built to 1/9th scale in traditional Cotswold stone, as is the wildlife-lovers’ paradise Birdland (8-minute walk) if you’ve got younger guests in tow. If you’re visiting in the summer, you may also be lucky enough to play witness to the village’s annual football match taking place entirely in the River Windrush; an August Bank Holiday favourite that sees visitors flock from miles around to cheer on their favourite team. Slightly further afield, Cotswold Farm Park (10-minute drive) is a firm favourite for families and animal lovers, as is Sudeley Castle (25-minute drive) in the historic town of Winchcombe. For adults in search of a peaceful day out, Burford Garden Centre (20-minute drive) is a shopping haven crammed full of luxury goodies, artisan gifts and beautiful plants to browse, as is Daylesford Farmshop & Café (15-minute drive); a famous farmshop with a distinctly luxury feel, owned by Lady Bamford.

The Barn is situated in the beautiful Cotswold village of Windrush which is on the borders of Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire. The Barn was converted into a detached house in the 1970s. There are many walks close by including the Cotswold Way. We are the next village along from the beautiful Sherborn Estate, where Springwatch and Autumn watch were filmed. I have one double bedroom with double bed with private bathroom. There is free parking.

The Granary is part of The Great Barns at Macaroni Farm which were built in the 1700's. Macaroni Farm is a family run, organic farm situated in the heart of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Guests staying here can enjoy the many footpaths, and walk across fields to the historic village of Eastleach. The Granary is a beautifully authentic barn conversion which retains the feel of the original grain store it once was, with exposed beams, stone and stable dividers upstairs.
The ground floor consists of a large, stone floored open plan living room/kitchen, with electric wood burner. The entrance hall is spacious with a WC under the stairs, that leads up to the bathroom, twin room , and master bedroom. All beds are comfortable Loaf beds. The master bedroom has a super king size bed and its' own WC and basin. Guests would need to walk through the twin to get to the master room, which could also be used as a dressing room for couples who wished to stay.
The historic village of Eastleach is a short walk across the fields from The Granary which also boasts the very popular 'Queen Victoria' pub. We are on the edge of the Coln Valley famous for its' beautiful walks. There are 5 wonderful pubs within a 10 minute radius of the farm, while the villages of Bibury, Burford, Fairford, Lechlade and Cirencester are close by and easy to explore from us. Fairford and Lechlade both have a 'Lynwoods' café which are infamous for their delicious coffee, sourdough and breakfasts.
