“The sweeping white-sand crescent of Bondi is one of Australia’s most iconic beaches. Reliable waves draw surfers while, nearby, hardy locals swim in the Icebergs ocean pool year-round. Trendy, health-conscious Sydneysiders head to laid-back cafes around Hall Street, while hip backpackers frequent the area's casual pubs. Walkers and joggers use the clifftop Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk, with its dramatic scenery.”

“Restaurants/Bars My recommendations for places close by are: Cheapish  Bang Tang: Asian Fusion. Victoria Street (basically walk to the end of Orwell Street it’s on the other side of the road). Really hilarious owners. They usually place really good music too. Top tip: put some mosquito repellent on your ankles – most of the seating is outside.  Friggatoria: Exceptional Italian streetfood. At the beginning of Bayswater Road.  Penny’s Cheese Shop: down Roslyn Street – they do an epic cheese toastie on Saturday mornings.  The Lookout: you have to walk down to Elizabeth Bay and it’s at the bottom of Ithaca Road. A beautiful spot to have breakfast/lunch on the water. Totally casual. My favourites on Llankelly lane:  Joseph Hyde: great breakfast and also open on Friday evenings for drinks. Lovely people!  Orwells: healthy breakfasts and lunches. Really sweet people too.  Room 10: exceptional salads and sandwiches – I really like their coffee. More expensive  Chester White: Relaxed, great vibe. Italian inspired. One of my faves. Down the bottom of Orwell Street.  Et al: Relaxed outdoor dining on Llankelly lane – they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner during the weekend.  Dear St Eloise: If you look out of the living room window you can see this bar on the corner. They play great music. Good vibes.  Jangling Jacks: My favourite bar in the area. Music is fab and they really look after you there. A bit of an America dive bar vibe. Just walk down Orwell Street and you’re on Victoria Street. It’s just up the road from Bang Tang (walking towards the back entrance of Kings Cross station).  The Roosevelt: opposite this building on Orwell Street. They get technical with the cocktails (Harry Potter style!).  Dulcies: An underground bar, right on the grotty strip of Kings Cross. It’s like a little speakeasy. Great cocktails.  The Rex: get there for happy hour if you can! It’s basically on the opposite side of the Road on Macleay Street.  Apollo: Fantastic Greek food. Kinda fancy. There are some good restaurants on Challis Ave, further down Macleay Street:  Fratelli Paradiso  La Bomba  Lotus 2 There’s so many more. Have a wander ‘round. I walked past a new Japanese place on Victoria Street called Chaco Bar that looks really interesting – haven’t tried it yet. It looks like fun. ”

“Darlinghurst is a funky, high-energy area with cafes, sleek multicultural restaurants and intimate cocktail bars. Oxford Street, a centre of the city’s LGBT scene, has nightclubs that thump with music, plus stylishly restored pubs. Edgy shops on Crown Street sell records, offbeat fashion and vintage apparel. Art galleries, independent theatre companies and live music venues draw a young, chic crowd.”
