Free on-street parking is readily available close to the cottage and throughout the hamlet.
The Cotswolds are characterised by attractive small towns and villages, built of the underlying Cotswold stone (a yellow oolitic limestone). In the Middle Ages the wool trade made the Cotswolds prosperous and some of this money was put into the building of churches, leaving the area with a number of large handsome Cotswold stone "wool churches". The area remains affluent, which has encouraged the establishment of many high quality pubs, restaurants and antique shops.

Welcome to Castle Mews, brought to you exclusively by Character Cottages, local specialists in stylish, Cotswold holiday rentals. Castle Mews is a hidden gem of a cottage, at the end of a short row of cottages tucked away down a gated passageway, right in the heart of the lovely market town of Cirencester. In Roman times Cirencester was known as “Corinium”, when it was the second largest town in Britain, a history that is celebrated in its local museum. Nowadays, Cirencester is the largest town in the Cotswolds, enabling it to support a wide range of pubs, restaurants and shops, all housed in beautiful honey-coloured Cotswold stone buildings. The town is surrounded by stunning countryside and beautiful Cotswold villages, as well as being an ideal base for visiting further afield places, such as Bath, Oxford or even a day trip into London. Important Customer Notice: - Special Events: Christmas, New Year and the Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival are Special Events, with bookings typically limited to weeks only from a specific start day If your dates don’t appear to fit, then please click Contact Host below to find out what options may exist for you!
Castle Mews is very peacefully located, down a gated passageway off Castle street, a beautiful street in the heart of Cirencester. There is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden at the front of the cottage, which leads to the front door. The door opens into the open plan ground floor: Living/dining area: The relaxing living and dining space contains a comfy sofa, an armchair and a wooden dining table, with seating for two. Discretely hidden away in a wooden cabinet is a small SMART TV and DVD player; Kitchen area: The lovely kitchen area is very well laid out and contains a two ring induction hob, electric oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, toaster and a washing machine/tumble dryer. Stairs lead up from the living area to the first floor landing, off which are the following rooms: Bedroom: A lovely eaves room, with oak beams and a ledge and brace door, which contains a king size bed; Dressing room: A nice additional space, which contains a sofa, a dressing table and a free standing towel rail; Bathroom: Contains a bath with overhead shower, toilet, wash basin and heated towel rail. Returning downstairs, a stable door leads out from the kitchen area to a small, enclosed courtyard garden at the back of the cottage, which contains a table and two seats. The garden area at the front of the cottage is larger and is a beautiful place to sit outside and relax, containing two comfy chairs and a small table.
Bourton-on-the-Water is arguably one of the most popular villages of the Cotswolds, especially amongst overseas visitors. Having been nicknamed the "Venice of the Cotswolds", its scenery is the main draw for travellers. The River Windrush meanders through beautiful English countryside before passing over rapids next to the Old Mill and arriving at Bourton. The river is fed from many springs, with the source approximately ten miles from the village and, after flowing under the bridges of Bourton, it passes other villages before eventually joining the Thames. There are various attractions in the village, including the famous Birdland, which is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Here visitors can see parrots, pelicans, flamingos and penguins to name just a few, with experienced keepers feeding the birds and leading demonstrations. The Model Village is well worth a visit, as Bourton is the only village in the Cotswolds to have a one-ninth scale replica of itself. It is carefully maintained and has all of the characterful buildings including the Old Water Mill and the Old New Inn. Those lucky enough to witness snow in the winter months will notice photographers at the model village trying to get the perfect picture of the snowy scene. Another family favourite is the Dragonfly Maze. This yew maze leads visitors through the labyrinth, gathering clues in order to find the pavilion in the centre which enables them to unlock the final secret! The maze was constructed by Kit Williams, author of the golden hare treasure hunt book, "Masquerade".

Minchinhampton is a very attractive, thriving hilltop town, situated on a tongue of high land between the Golden Valley and the Nailsworth Valley, 1.5 miles north east of Nailsworth. The town also sits on the eastern fringes of Minchinhampton Common, high above the valleys that were once prosperous with the production of cloth. The centre of Minchinhampton is a picture-postcard image of what people expect of a small Cotswold town, with a selection of nice shops and places to eat. The town is centred on its High Street and old Market Square, the main feature of which is the late 17th century Market House, supported on stone columns. The interesting Holy Trinity Church dates from the 12th century and has a truncated spire looking over the Market Square. The church was given to Caen's Abbaye aux Dames by William the Conqueror and then in 1415 passed to Syon Abbey, in whose hands it remained until the Dissolution. Minchinhampton Common is a large area of open grassland with spectacular views over the Stroud and Nailsworth valleys. The area is owned by National Trust and is an important archaeological landscape, with prehistoric field systems, burial mounds and the remains of a defensive earthwork, known as The Bulwarks. In the summer the Commons are grazed by local commoners' cattle. The area covers 635 acres and is renowned for its colourful array of wild flowers and butterflies. Food & Drink For a small market town, Minchinhampton is fortunate to be blessed with a number of good places to eat and drink: The Crown Inn (https://www.thecrown-minchinhampton.com/): Roaring fires, a restaurant serving up locally inspired flavours, and a cellar stocked full of craft ales, fine wines, and fizz - when it comes to Cotswold country pubs, The Crown Inn is the perfect place to meet, eat, and make great memories. The Ragged Cot (www.theraggedcot.co.uk): Perched high on the Cotswolds outside the ancient market town of Minchinhampton sits the Ragged Cot, a country inn getaway created for serious pleasure seekers. Born of a 17th century coaching house inn set beside six hundred acres of National Trust common land the Ragged Cot is a pretty special place with an intriguing history of highwaymen and pilferage. The proprietors of the Ragged Cot take pride in their professional approach to food and service, with the seasonal menu offering great British food sourced from local farmers and even their own vegetable garden. With dishes such as seared ox tongue with pickled red cabbage, pheasant with braised leeks and artichoke puree or just simply ham, eggs with triple cooked chips you will always find a dish to fit; The Kitchen (www.thekitchenminchinhampton.co.uk): Choose a seat by the beautiful bay window and watch for riders trotting by on horseback or perhaps the occasional herd of cows strolling down from the Common. Serving delicious breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, and lunches, all the locally sourced food is prepared fresh daily; The Old Lodge, Minchinhampton Common (www.food-club.com/old-lodge.htm): The Old Lodge is beautifully located in the centre of Minchinhampton Common. With unrivalled views of the Cotswolds, this 400 year old hunting lodge is the perfect place to escape the rush. Enjoy quality, locally sourced food served in the restaurant, the bar area, one of the smaller dining rooms or al fresco in the spacious garden. The stunning restaurant accommodates parties of up to 85 people seated and has floor to ceiling windows that look directly onto Minchinhampton Common. Minchinhampton also has an excellent butcher's shop and an organic cheese shop: L Taylor & Sons (www.taylorsminchinhampton.com): For nearly a century L Taylor and Sons has been supplying the highest quality meat to discerning customers. The quality of the shop has been recognised with a Cotswold Life Butcher of the year award; Woefuldane Organic Dairy (www.woefuldanedairy.co.uk): All the products are made by hand in the farm dairy in time honoured ways. The unpasteurised cheeses change throughout the seasons as the milk varies depending on what the cows are eating.

    Natalie2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Molto pulito, ordinato e ben arredato.

The Loft at The Retreat is a lovely unique and OFF GRID space in a stunning location. If you're not put off by it's low ceiling and minimal electricity (we use solar power for lighting/phone charging and have a portable DVD player which guests can use) Our shower is an outdoor shower with hot water and the toilet is a compost loo. The kitchen is a basic outdoor set up and guests are welcome to dine at our Viking inspired long table. Guests are also welcome to use our pizza oven and BBQ.
Whether it's Roman Cirencester or Bohemian Stroud, riding stables or glider experiences, quiet walks or just a chance to escape that you're after, there's something for everyone here. The loft is on our campsite which can site 6 tents so you may end up sharing the site with other people and dogs. We don't allow children under 12 and sorry no dogs allowed in the loft. There is a train track which runs along side our site so please expect to hear the sound of trains every so often.
We are situated between two fantastic typical country pubs so if you fancy locally sourced food and beer it's just a short walk along farm tracks and along an old canal path. The village shop is a 30 minute stroll through fields with stunning views (it doesn't take everyone as long but the views can be distracting) Carry a camera at ALL times and if you're anything like me a memory card to help store all the photos I'm sure you will take. The wildlife/valley/weather all create the most amazing photographs. Don't forget to make time for a trip to the Winstone's ice cream factory, a tiny ice cream shop in the middle of the common.

In the centre of beautiful Minchinhampton, this detached cosy cottage is open plan in design and tastefully renovated throughout with plenty of modern conveniences. Set in a quiet pretty garden, and with on site parking + Type 2 EV charger, this is a great getaway. Currently and until further notice COVID19 means only key workers can book this for self isolating purposes. up to the end of June 2020. This may change to reflect government action.
The Coach House is a beautifully converted 16th century stables with modern open plan living embedded in a classic Cotswold cottage garden setting. We are in the centre of the charming village of Minchinhampton with its beautiful church with quirky crown capped spire and Cotswold stone as far as the eye can see. Arriving by car or train we can assist with on site parking or "Tesla taxi" service from Stroud station. After entering via a well gravelled path, with a courtyard style seating area, fine weather affords a beautiful al fresco table adjacent to your front door and looks onto the raised bed paved garden with a hammock available for watching the sun setting through the beech trees. Too breezy? you are welcome to enjoy a glass inside our conservatory, which catches the evening sun, (like the garden, this space is shared with us in the main house) .
The Old Swan Coach House is in the middle of the picturesque village of Minchinhampton. Visitors are generally delighted by the established Cotswold village feel, (this is an organically grown village, not a 2nd home centre) and its location for walks and the wider area attractions is considered a massive selling point. It is perhaps why Princess Anne chose the adjacent Gatcombe estate for her wonderful residence. Minchinhampton Common is a few minutes walk and provides a wonderful "big sky" airy clean open space for an early morning or evening walk. During the summer months it also supplies a procession of cows, some of which may occasionally wander past the house and up the high street. The common offers a wonderful, 130 years established, golf course that gives you the chance to observe skylarks, Adonis Blue butterflies, and a range of orchids on this ancient National Trust meadow land. I am a lapsed member and enjoyed the views and the natural hazards in equal measure. It is open to visitors and affords a kind of inland links course with no sand but plenty of natural hazards. https://minchinhamptonoldcourse.intelligentgolf.co.uk A visit to the common often includes sampling the delicious Winstones Ice cream that is made right there on the edge, just near the Bear of Rodborough "chicane". Nearby Stroud offers the award winning Farmer's Market every Saturday and a range of quirky "Stroudy" shops and people watching opportunities. Until November 2019 the Crown, Minchinhampton's only central pub was closed for 6 years and eating places required a drive for evening meals. Since November 8th the new owners, the Lucky Onion group, offer excellent dining and a welcoming pub. This is now a busy godsend to locals and visitors alike. Currently for the Crown, every night and lunch, and for most other restaurants within nearby range, for the busier weekends of the year, booking is mostly required. (Advice on request). Henry's Cafe and Peter and Assumpta's The Kitchen are in friendly competition for great local cafe coffee and light bites - both a very short walk from us in the high street. The Church is active and well liked, it has been recently reordered with underfloor heating and much more, and has an active bell ringing team. Practice is on Friday evenings starting at 8:00 and the Bells are quite likely to wake those sleeping in on a Sunday morning. Cheltenham racecourse being reasonably nearby, booking for Festival week (2nd week of March) needs good advance planning. Our local version of smart pricing applies. Minchinhampton is possibly most well known for the residence of Princess Anne whose annual Festival of Eventing in August https://www.festivalofbritisheventing.com/ attracts visitors from far and wide to Gatcombe. Around that time Minchinhampton hosts, longer than anywhere else, the marvellous Giffords Circus. It has been featured on the list of 50 things you must see before you die and brings crowds from miles around to the big top on the common. https://www.giffordscircus.com/ The National Trust owned Common is famous for its rare breed cows grazing from April to November and the beautiful "big sky" walks are a home to many a high flying skylark and the rare Adonis butterfly. The 130 year old Golf Club and the Old Lodge are popular spots situated in the middle of the common - all our local pubs are welcoming and worth a visit. Also visible throughout the year are gliders from the two astonishingly close local clubs, http://www.cotswoldgliding.co.uk/holiday_courses (where I learned to fly) and https://bggc.co.uk/ The views over the Cotswold edge can be stunning and the costs much lower than most imagine. (trial flights start from £95) From the Cirencester road to Minch, as you turn in to Aston Down airfield is "Jolly Nice" a fast growing organic shop and eatery that now occupies three yurts. The ice cream is superb and the speciality delicatessen has the best quality produce and fantastic gifts (at a price!) https://jollynicefarmshop.com/ Westonbirt Arboretum is a popular all year round visitor attraction just 9 miles to the south of us. Every Saturday the lively alternative scene that is Stroud Town hosts the oldest established Farmer's market, just 4 miles down in the valley. It is also a centre for every type of artist and alternative health practitioner.

The Potting Shed is the quintessential 5* Cotswold escape. Following an 18 month restoration completed in May 2019, this stone barn conversion is the perfect retreat. Located within the grounds of an elegant Grade II listed Georgian town house on Cecily Hill - voted one of the prettiest streets in England, this romantic getaway is accessed by a private stone bridge which leads through through a formal kitchen garden to a stunning private terrace.
COVID-19 POTTING SHED UPDATE - Your safety and protection is our top priority, we are deep cleaning the Potting Shed between visits and have plenty of anti-bacterial wipes and hand wash throughout the property. In addition you are totally isolated, with your own private entrances, plenty of private outside space and the largest park (Cirencester Park) in the county right on your doorstep to roam around in complete privacy. As of 21/3/20 Most restaurants/Pubs are offering take away and delivery services. Further details will be listed in our guidebook as they become available. Send us a message, we are here to help! The Potting Shed is a self-contained converted stone barn which occupies 550 sq ft of living space and has a generous 200 sq ft private terrace. This gorgeous hideaway sits in our grounds but, with its own separate entrance, it is a very private and quiet cottage. Following an extensive restoration from the ground up in 2018/19, we have used local materials and Cotswold craftsmanship to create a retreat that’s been decorated to a very high standard throughout using beautiful fittings, Farrow and Ball paints and designer fabrics. Upstairs under the eaves, with their original lime-washed oak beams and exposed Cotswold stone walls, are 4 heritage double glazed conservation windows, fitted with black out blinds for the light early mornings. The queen sized (1400) pocket sprung bed with luxurious 400 thread Egyptian cotton pressed linen (Nb. Can also be set up as a twin room) occupies one end of the bedroom while a generous cupboard sits at the other end with a hanging rail and masses of hangers for your clothes and space for your bags. All the upstairs lighting controls are conveniently located next to both sides of the bed. In addition, there is a DAB Roberts radio on the bedside table. Downstairs features a great living space with excellent wifi and underfloor heating installed throughout. There’s a fully equipped kitchen containing a Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge with ice compartment, gas cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, washing machine and masses of kitchen utensils, pots and pans… so if you fancy dining in, there’s everything you need to create delicious meals while the drop-leaf dining table can be extended from 2 to 4 places. In the cosy living area, there’s a deep sofa and a 4k TV with access to both Catch-up and Netflix. Finally, for those chilly evenings, a stylish Chesneys gas fire will keep you lovely and warm and as it’s operated by remote control, you need only to lift a finger ! The luxurious bathroom is also located downstairs and is equipped with underfloor heating and high end fittings such as a Hanns Grohe shower, Burlington taps and natural Bramley bathroom products, all designed for complete indulgence. To ensure your stay is as comfortable as can be, we’ve kitted out the cottage with a fully integrated heating system operated by Nest, which also controls the underfloor heating. But your safety is vital so we’ve also installed an intelligent AutoMist® fire suppression system. Outside, the terrace is perfectly set-up for alfresco drinks and dining and it is there exclusively for your use. There is a shared formal kitchen garden / potager, bordered by a mature hedge which forms the boundary of the shared space, beyond which the rest of the garden is private. The Gumstool Brook bridge was also rebuilt last year and the iron decorative railings and pillars which we added won the Cirencester 2019 Civic Design award. Checking-in, Dropping off & Parking The Potting Shed is set up for self check-in, with a keypad entry system on the bridge and a key safe by the front door. Unfortunately, we do not provide parking on site, however there is a drop off point at the end of the Gumstool Brook path, where guests can unload. Cars can be parked at The Old Station, The Brewery, Waterloo or The Beeches car parks; there is also free off-street parking on Barton Lane (subject to availability) just 3 minutes’ walk away. Alternatively, private parking can be arranged for a small charge 5 minutes walk away, including a Type 2 EV charge point. For those travelling without a car, Kemble train station is situated 10 minutes from Cirencester – and trains from London take 1hr 20mins. From May until September, the beautiful Cirencester open air swimming pool, with its warm spring-fed water, is open from 7am. It’s a couple of minutes' walk along from the Gumstool Brook bridge so why not go for a refreshing early morning dip!
We are located in perhaps the most beautiful and convenient location in Cirencester. The local pub and best restaurants in town are 90 seconds away and if you enjoy a good walk, we are right next to the entrance of Cirencester park and estate owned by Lord and Lady Bathurst with a cafe, miles and miles of walking, Cirencester cricket club, tennis courts and polo which is played throughout the summer. Bring your walking boots or don’t and just sit in this wonderful park and watch the world go by.. last but not least there is the recently refurbished open air pool, 1 minute walk away and open throughout the summer.

Take your first glimpse of the rolling fields surrounding our traditional Cotswold stone farmstead, as you travel along our private, tree lined drive. In an AONB, the farmstead sits on the edge of the Golden Valley. Dating back to the 1700s, Little Finch's Cottage is nestled within the original Farmhouse, where you can still find exposed beams and sunny window seats. Step through Little Finch's front door into the lounge/breakfast room which is linked to the bedroom by a steep spiral staircase.
Hidden from view and surrounded by its' own land, Kings Farm remained largely untouched by the modern world for almost two hundred years. The original farmstead buildings tell of a vanished time but neglect of many years has taken its' toll. Kings Farm is one of the last original farmsteads of its' kind in the local area and is very slowly undergoing sympathetic repair and restoration. Guest accommodation is newly decorated and forms part of the refurbishment of the farmhouse, which was in a bad state of repair, when purchased in 2018. The guest shower room is a new addition to the house and is just a few steps across the passageway from the bedroom, which has an attractive window seat and Victorian fireplace, which is not useable. The guest sitting room has a Victorian open fireplace but central heating has been installed throughout the house. No kitchen or washing up facilities. In the late nineteen eighties, Kings Farm was used as a location for a TV series called, Forever Green. The storyline was of a family, with a badly asthmatic daughter, who relocated from London to a neglected Farmhouse in the countryside. Various environmental issues were covered in the series. We lead an outdoor life as we have dogs and horses. Guests are allowed to bring dogs. The accommodation is suitable for one large dog e.g. Labrador or two small/medium dogs e.g. Cocker Spaniel. Guests are welcome to exercise their dog(s), on leads, across our fields, which are just a few yards from the farmhouse. WiFi is not currently available.
The exceptionally beautiful countryside of the Cotswolds is all around, with woods and valleys, stone walls , villages and hamlets whose cottages and farmsteads are built with Cotswold limestone. Ancient footpaths criss cross the landscape. The Daneway Inn, sitting close to the Severn and Thames canal towpath, can be reached by following the footpath which crosses our land. We are about three miles from the village of Miserden, which has Misarden Park at its' heart. The plant nursery has a welcoming cafe while, in the village, there is the Carpenters Arms pub. The town of Stroud is about a 20 minute drive away. The Saturday Farmers Market is well worth a visit, with many local organic foodstuffs to purchase. We are a few miles from the main base of Giffords Circus, a touring village-green circus. The market town of Cirencester is about a twenty minute drive away and Cheltenham, which hosts several horse racing festivals, together with annual cricket, jazz, science, music and literature festivals, is about a forty five minute drive from us.

Local pubs to stroll to include: The Bell Inn at Sapperton, recently feted for it's food in The Telegraph. The Daneway Inn, a favourite with walkers. The Crown Inn at Frampton Mansell for sundowners and a great sunset. Slightly further is The WoolPack at Slad, which was Laurie Lee's local pub where he wrote "Cider with Rosie" a book about moving to Gloucestershire from London post WW1 and arriving as a small boy with his family and furniture on a horse drawn cart- meeting his first love. The Woolpack is owned and run by sculptor Danny Chadwick and it's the perfect place to sample rural culture and seriously delicious food. Monday night is Chadwick Pizza Oven night. Wonderful local organic food is available at Jolly Nice Farmer's Market on the other side of the Valley. Our village shop and post office 2 minutes by car in Oakridge. There are Waitrose supermarkets in both Stroud and Cirencester 15 minutes by car. Order a fish pie from William's Kitchen in Nailsworth and let the oven do the cooking whilst you sit and relax by the fire. We are surrounded by picturesque woodland and canal walks in a breathtaking AONB and have great cycling routes for those that like a challenging hill or two in the Golden Valleys...alternatively bring some wellington boots and we can tell you of some glorious local walks in every direction around the cottage.

Hope Cottage is cosy, quirky and full of character (lots of exposed stone walls and original beams, plus a woodburner) but with all mod cons. It sits in its own terrace/garden in this pretty South Cotswolds village. There are wonderful views, and it's the perfect place to relax and get away from it all. A true home from home, with privacy and seclusion (no owners on site), a great local pub and walks in all directions
Hope Cottage is a detached property built in 1750s in the rural hillside village of France Lynch in the South Cotswolds. Recently refurbished, it boasts all mod cons with a new kitchen and bathroom, alongside character features like oak beams, exposed stone walls and mullion windows. There is an inglenook fireplace in the sitting room, with a woodburner and logs and kindling provided. It sits in its own private, south-facing garden with wonderful views across the valley, and there is parking for one car. The cottage has one double bedroom with additional accommodation (a single bed) in a mezzanine area, plus a sofa bed (small double) on the landing, which looks out through the most fantastic picture window. The beds are made up with beautiful white cotton bedlinen and towels are provided. There is gas central heating, with a woodburner in the sitting room to keep the place toasty on chilly evenings. France Lynch is a charming village with dry stone walls and narrow winding lanes, and a great pub, the Kings Head, just two minutes walk away at the end of the lane. There are some beautiful walks direct from the door (many ending at or passing by other local pubs in the area). Within a short drive are local attractions such as the Farmers Market at Stroud, the Rococo Gardens at Painswick, Prinknash Abbey, Westonbirt Arboretum, the antique shops of Tetbury and Laurie Lee's picturesque Slad Valley, the inspiration behind 'Cider with Rosie'. Within 45 minutes drive are larger centres of Bristol, Bath and Cheltenham, and the cottage is also conveniently situated for events such as Gatcombe Horse Trials, Badminton, Kemble and Fairford Air Shows and Cheltenham's Races, Literary and Music Festivals.
France Lynch is a charming little village, full of stone cottages and winding lanes, and the pub at the end of the road is just two minutes walk away - in the summer there's a garden to sit out in, and during the winter there is usually a roaring log fire inside. There are some great walks in this area and we've left plenty of information in a booklet in the cottage - some maps of the immediate local area, plus smaller scale ones that include footpaths. We have also left some laminated sheets with specific walks that guests can follow. Stroud is a quirky, fun little town with a great Farmers Market on Saturdays and Cirencester is slightly larger with a bigger range of shops and some nice restaurants and bars. Both are within an easy drive.
  • Soggiorno fantastico, ottimo rapporto qualità / prezzo, ottimo padrone di casa. Bellissima posizione

    Sean2019-11-02T00:00:00Z

Snug, compact and bijou, Cherub Cottage, completely refurbished in 2018, is situated in the heart of the beautiful Cotswold village of Chalford Hill and is the perfect couples getaway. With a comfortable lounge and well equipped kitchen downstairs, luxurious bedroom and en suite shower room upstairs and suntrap terrace for morning coffee it is ideal for 2 but can take 4 at a squeeze. Nick, your host lives 2 minutes walk away, and is happy to recommend things to do and see.
The Cottage is at least 200 years old and was originally a storehouse or barn. It has been a dwelling for some time and was completely refurbished in 2018.
Chalford is a quintessential Cotswold village perched on the side of the valley. Perfect for country walks and fresh air. 2 pubs, a fish and chip shop , a tea shop and a community store in the village. Quirky Stroud and upmarket Cirencester nearby. A great base for exploring the Cotswolds. Within an hour of Bath,Bristol and Oxford, half an hour from Cheltenham and Gloucester.

    Kate2020-02-02T00:00:00Z

    Paula2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • Soggiorno meraviglioso!

    Francesca2020-01-16T00:00:00Z

Stylish Shepherds Cabin in the heart of the Cotswolds. Free-standing full sized bath, king size bed, two seater sofa and great views. This is as good as camping in the woods gets, no electricity but hot water, plenty of candles and gas to cook on.
This romantic getaway has all you need for a weekend away or a short break. Less than 2 hours from London and an hour from Bristol the Shepherds Cabin is in the heart of the Cotswolds. At the head of the Slad valley, made famous by Laurie Lee's books, especially Cider with Rosie, this idyllic part of the world has changed little since his time. The walk to the Woolpack pub takes an hour and a half and takes you through an unspoilt valley with no houses or humans for the first hour. Or you can drive in 7 minutes. The cabin has hot and cold running water, NO ELECTRICITY, but plenty of candles and torches.
The Cotswolds are an internationally recognised Area of Outstanding Beauty and we are in the middle of it. Just a short walk from The Shepherd's Cabin is at the top of the Slad Valley, made famous in the book Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and explorable via a network of well maintained and signposted paths and tracks. The Gloucestershire wildlife trust has marked a set of paths and routes to celebrate the centenary of the famous writer's birth and most importantly the valley leads you down hill all the way to the Laurie's local pub; The Woolpack. A local institution, The Woolpack is a fantastic local pub in the traditional sense. Good food, great beer, quality locals and the odd fiddly diddly band to get things going. Stroud Farmer's Market is regularly recognised as the best in the country and is open every Saturday from 9-2. It is well worth a visit for some great local produce.

    Phil2019-11-03T00:00:00Z

    Joseph2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • Cabina assolutamente incredibile dove stare.

Grazie Sarah!

  • Siamo stati benissimo in una bella casa. La posizione e gli host erano eccezionali. Ci torneremmo sicuramente!

    Kathryn2019-05-06T00:00:00Z

    Shihhan2019-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Tutto era perfettamente pulito e Aileen e Francis erano molto accoglienti e disponibili.

    Andy2018-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • Siamo stati benissimo.

Walnut Cottage lies in the heart of Chalford Valley in the Cotswolds. It is set in a large garden beside the clear, trout filled River Frome. Nearby is the disused Thames Severn Canal with its delightful paths to Sapperton and Stroud. There is also a wide variety of beautiful wooded, grassland and meadow walks. The cottage is self contained, beautifully presented and in the heart of the very friendly village of Chalford with delightful village shop. secure off-road parking.
Otters have been spotted in the river by the cottage as well as kingfishers & a procession of duck families

Explore the beautiful south Cotswolds, and treat yourself to a stay in our comfortable, stylish, spacious, fully equipped and self-contained studio apartment. The studio has a lovely private courtyard for sunny days. Peaceful village location with a park opposite the house. Also suitable for short term lettings.
The Studio is part of our Cotswold stone house. It is a stylish and comfortable space. You drive up a long driveway, past our lovely gardens, to reach the Studio. We make it your home from home. The Studio is fully equipped with cooking equipment, utensils and crockery/cutlery in a beautiful hand made kitchen. There's underfloor heating beneath the oak floor in main living area and tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. There is also a dishwasher and washing machine. And an espresso machine. Fibre broadband and Wifi and a very large screen Smart TV with Netflix. There is a comfortable double bed in the spacious living area. The whole apartment is open plan with a mezzanine access from which stairs lead to a loft area and stairs lead down to the main living area. Open plan means there is no bedroom which is completely private. The bathroom has a large double shower, sink and toilet. But no bath! There is parking directly outside the Studio. A car is recommended. You can get a taxi from Stroud station (about £12) and there are plenty of walks straight from the studio. The shops are about a mile away. You also have the benefit of a secluded courtyard that gets the sun (when it shines). The courtyard is equipped with a table and four seats, outside lighting, along with a fire pit (wood supplied) to keep your toes warm.
Chalford Hill is on the south Cotswold top. As the name suggests we are at the southern edge of the Cotswold Hills and slightly off the beaten track; the Stroud valleys are the undiscovered gem of Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. This is an area with deep valleys, steep hills, lush countryside, beautiful villages and many outstanding pubs! Laurie Lee's book, Cider with Rosie, is set is Slad, about 5 miles away. There is a superb walk in the Slad valley celebrating scenes from the book which gives you a flavour of the very best of the English countryside. The Cotswold towns of Stow on the Wold, Moreton in the Marsh, Bourton on the Water, Chipping Camden are between 30 and 50 minutes drive. There are walks and cycle rides from our front gate and don't forget to have afternoon tea at the Lavender BakeHouse, Jolly Nice or Miserden Garden Cafe. There's a Vue Cinema in Stroud with regular NT Live performances. Convenience stores close by (5 minutes by car): Tesco express Boots Chemist/pharmacy Chinese takeaway Fish and chips Petrol station Playground/park (right opposite entrance to the house) Last, but not least, there's a Waitrose in Cirencester (15 minutes) and one in Stroud (10 minutes). So all is well.

The Little Cottage is a small terraced Cotswold stone cottage nestled in the heart of Chalford Hill village. It offers cosy accommodation for up to 4 adults (with room for a travel cot) in two double bedrooms. Its the perfect base from which to explore all the Cotswolds has to offer.
There are two double bedrooms with space in both to take a travel cot (we can provide one), towels and bed linen are provided. I'm happy to make up one of the doubles with single duvets if you have children who would prefer not to share bedding - please just ask when you book. Please be aware that the second bedroom is in the attic so has limited head height in some places in the room. There are plenty of extra blankets in case you need something extra warm. Each bedroom has electric radiators. The kitchen is compact but has everything you need to brew a decent cup of coffee in the morning or whip up a quick family meal in the mini range cooker in the evening. There is an ample fridge freezer, a small dishwasher, microwave and coffee machine in the kitchen, there is also a small Everhot range cooker - its electric and very simple to use. The living room is warmed by a stove and we will provide you with a large basket of logs, kindling and firelighters you need to keep it glowing. Should you require more logs they’re available from the local garage, Stroud Farm Services and Jolly Nice cafe. Please just ask if you need directions. The bathroom has a bath with a shower overhead. There is an enclosed garden to the rear of the property but like all the properties in the village its a little quirky - to find it go out the front door and turn immediately right - up the steps, follow the path all the way around Cherub Cottage and through the little gate and you will come upon a gorgeous terraced space with a summer house and a wonderful view over the Cotswolds. Children are very welcome - we can provide a travel cot, children’s plates/ cutlery, bath mat, stair gate. Please keep a close eye on children in the garden as there is an the entrance to an underground spring along the access path to the garden. Dogs are welcome but please keep them downstairs and off the furniture. There is a welly rack for muddy boots and an umbrella in the stand in the entrance hall so you don't have to get wet walking the Cotswolds or on your way to the pub! There are coat hooks in the cupboard in the entrance hall. You will be supplied with a welcome basket with a few essentials from local producers - eg bread, milk, coffee, tea, eggs etc

A stylish Cotswold cottage. Fully equipped. The lovely master bedroom has French doors overlooking Cotswold countryside and enjoys the morning sun. The bedroom opens onto a spacious luxury en-suite bathroom with large shower and separate bath. There are two further bedrooms, one of which has an en suite shower room. Downstairs is open plan with a fully equipped, hand-built kitchen with granite top, limestone flooring, dining and living space. Lovely gardens. Parking. Wifi. Full central heating.
The Cottage is attached to our large Cotswold house. It is completely separate and self contained. The whole garden is open so the cottage garden is not completely private. There is parking for two cars. The main bedroom faces east and gets the morning sun whilst the house faces south. There is a large circular patio to the front with an outside table and chairs. Downstairs the kitchen, living and dining area are a shared space. There is wifi, a large TV and access to Netflix. The Cottage is fully equipped with cooking equipment, utensils and crockery/cutlery in a beautiful hand made kitchen and granite worktop. There is also a built in dishwasher, fridge and washer dryer. And an espresso machine. The circular table can be extended with a centre leaf and there are two extra chairs. There is an iron, ironing board and cordless vacuum cleaner. If you feel you can't kick the habit. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 of which have ensuite bathrooms. Two upstairs and one downstairs. The ensuite bathroom to the main bedroom is large, with a freestanding bath and large rain shower. This bathroom is shared with the single bedroom; there are two doors both of which can be locked. Downstairs there is another bedroom with an ensuite shower room.
There is a park opposite the cottage with play areas and adult exercise machines. There are great walks and cycle rides from our front gate and don't forget to have afternoon tea at the Lavender BakeHouse!! There's a Vue Cinema in Stroud with regular NT Live performances. Convenience stores close by (5 minutes by car): Tesco express Chemist/pharmacy Chinese takeaway Fish and chips Petrol station Playground/park (right opposite entrance to the house) Last, but not least, there's a Waitrose in Cirencester (15 minutes) and one in Stroud (10 minutes). So all is well.

  • Bellissimo cottage in ottima posizione.

Grazie Carrie e Nigel, torneremo, senza dubbio.

  • L'incantevole pane appena sfornato e fiori freschi erano un tocco delizioso all'arrivo. Tutto è esattamente come descritto. Ti piacerà. Noi facemmo

  • Bella casa accogliente.

Lorry Lee is a stylish conversion of an old fashioned 7.5 ton horse box, in the heart of the Cotswolds. Free-standing full sized bath, king size bed, and great views. This is as good as camping in the woods gets, no electricity but hot water, plenty of candles and gas to cook on.
This romantic getaway has all you need for a weekend away or a short break. Less than 2 hours from London and an hour from Bristol. Lorry Lee is in the heart of the Cotswolds.
Just a short walk from Lorry Lee is the top of the Slad Valley, made famous in the book Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and explorable via a network of well maintained and signposted paths and tracks.

The Old Greenhouse aveva tutto ciò di cui avevamo bisogno, oltre a molti tocchi familiari.
