Upstairs, you’ll find 3 additional bedrooms, a half bath, and walk-in closet.

Guests are welcome to use the washer / dryer during their stay (we provide a small amount of detergent and eco-friendly dryer balls). For those who are environmentally conscious and enjoy the fresh smell and crisp clean feel of line-dried laundry, there is a clothes line on the back side of the house for your use.
Enjoy high-speed wireless Internet (WiFi) access and Bell satellite TV on the new 65" 4K Smart TV, play one of the many board games, or challenge someone to a game of pool. Borrow a book from shelf in the living room. The large unfinished attached garage has been converted into a recreation space with a pool table, ping pong table, 65” projection TV, and Nintendo Wii.
The screen porch runs the full length of the front of the house and is accessible from the living room as well as the main floor bedroom. The porch includes a comfy weather-proof rattan sectional for relaxing and Muskoka chairs for enjoying the sunsets. At night, create a more intimate setting by turning on the patio string lights.
The first bedroom at the top of the stairs features a Queen bed with cozy duvet, closet, and sliding door to a small west-facing balcony where you can enjoy sunsets and the freighters quietly passing by. In the smaller east-facing bedroom, awake to the sun streaming in from the Twin bed with cozy duvet. The ceiling fans and central air-conditioning keep the Island House cool in the summer months and the propane forced air system keeps the home toasty warm in the winter months.
Outside, enjoy 100 feet of sand beach and swim in the clear waters of Lake Huron and the St. Mary’s River. Have a picnic, play a game of washer toss, or simply relax on the park-like lawn. Two kayaks with an assortment of lifejacket sizes are available for your use. When night falls, build a fire in the fire pit and roast marshmallows or make S’mores.
The Island House property has plenty of parking including space for an RV, truck and trailer, etc. as well as room to turn around large vehicles.
PLEASE NOTE: Great Lakes water levels fluctuate up and down. From Spring to Fall the water can go up and then back down again impacting how much beach is available. This fluctuation goes hand-in-hand with waterfront property on the Great Lakes and is outside our control. Currently, water levels are at an all-time high in the Great Lakes including St. Joseph Island which means much of our beach (and neighbouring beaches) is underwater. The swimming is still great. The bottom is a nice firm sand; the water gradually gets deeper.
PLEASE ALSO NOTE: St. Joseph Island is a rural community and home to many different kinds of wildlife. While staying at the Island House, you will be vacationing in nature and may encounter deer, porcupines, bear, Canada geese stopping by on their way to warmer climates, and other animals. Please be mindful of deer when driving on the Island, particularly at night. Please also closely watch pets particularly if letting them outside at night.
St. Joseph Island is located in Ontario, Canada in a shipping channel near the mouth of the St. Mary’s River in the northwestern part of Lake Huron – one the 5 Great Lakes – and is 30kms long and 20kms wide. Winter is a hub of snowmobile activity as the Island is located between the Ontario and Michigan trail systems. The Island also boasts miles of private and public groomed cross country ski trails.
