“If you've had enough fish in Cádiz, this is the place to come for some really good meat with hams and sausages hanging all over the place. Tapas bar at the front, restaurant at the back (if you're lucky you'll be served by a fearsome bull of a man that looks like he takes his food as seriously as he does regularly (excellent recommendations, mind you!). Try the tapa or bigger ración of carrillada Iberica picante (slightly spicy slow-cooked Iberian pig cheek stew) and a montadito de paleta y presa iberica (juicy pork steak topped with Iberican jamón in a bread roll), or if you want something more substantial try the excellent entrecote de presa Iberica (juicy shoulder steak) or the local beef (Carne Retinto). Good selection of well priced wine, too. ”

“Consistently great little modern bar and restaurant serving excellent food (sometimes with an Asian twist) and good wines by the glass. Friendly and helpful staff speak English and there's plenty of room and tables unless you come late. Reasonably priced. This one is definitely worth a visit if only for their incredible octopus (pulpo) dish. There's rarely a visit there when I don't order that pulpo! If you want to sit down for a meal here it's worth booking ahead. Also try their bao of pork or the squid ink taco stuffed with chocos (cuttlefish). Both delicious! ”

“En el sur de España, entre la belleza de la Janda y junto a las faldas de Vejer de la Frontera, en un entorno lleno de naturaleza, se encuentra La Castillería. Es el asador de carnes más famoso de Andalucía y por ende el mejor de la provincia de Cádiz. Está considerado uno de los tres mejores restaurantes de la provincia. Alejado del mundanal ruido y siguiendo la técnica milenaria del fuego, se practica una cocina tradicional que, utilizando la magia de la brasa, nos ofrece sorprendentes posibilidades preservando la identidad natural de los productos de la zona. En La Castillería son especialistas en carnes asadas y a la parrilla, aunque también podrás degustar exquisitas ensaladas o platos de pescado. Descubra el auténtico sabor de los asados en La Castillería, seducirá hasta al paladar más exigente. El restaurante encandila desde el primer momento. Situado junto a una cascada de agua, el comedor está como “incrustado” en la naturaleza, hasta el punto de que los troncos de los árboles se confunden con la decoración de la estancia. La cocina está a la vista del público tan sólo separada por una cristalera. Recomendamos la carne de ternera a la parrilla en sus múltiples variables, los alcauciles rellenos de mollejas, el milhojas de crema e higos Solo abren en primavera y en verano. Es casi imposible reservar en La Castilleria en pleno verano. Si quiere reservar lo puede hacer con semanas o meses de antelación. Solo reservan el 50% de las mesas, el otro 50% según llegue la gente. Le recomiendo o llegar pronto (21:15) para coger el primer turno o tarde (23:15) para coger el segundo turno. Tiene su guasa llegar a La Castilleria, pero también forma parte de su encanto, y es que el restaurante está enclavado en la preciosa y no muy conocida pedanía de Santa Lucía. Repetirás.”
