Wakeham is our family house. It won the Country Life 'House of the Year' award. It is set in the middle of our organic farm, with multiple woods, valleys & a river. It is a minimalist house in a classical shell. Its core is a triple-height atrium wrapped around by balconies which lead to 2 double bedrooms & 2 bunk rooms. It has a 12ft deep pool with two springboards, a shallow 40ft-long pool for beginners, a tennis court, and a brilliant sandpit. All downstairs rooms open up to the garden.
Wakeham is an award winning architect designed house. You will love it or hate it. It is suitable for families but not for toddlers - hard slate floors to fall on, plain coloured walls that don't want to be marked or scuffed, a glass table in the atrium, and so on. It needs to be looked after. One double room has an en-suite bath and the other an en-suite shower. The bunk rooms share a family shower and WC. There is also a downstairs toilet. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with top of the range kitchen machinery, and crockery for 12 people in case you invite guests (though there is only space for 9 people at the polished-stone kitchen table!). In decent weather you can eat under the portico which leads directly from the kitchen and where we have put a larger table. In bad weather there are two open fires, including a huge fireplace in the atrium - and the underfloor heating works well.
This house is in the South Downs national park and has stunning views of the Downs as well as of its own farm. It's in easy range of Goodwood and of Polo at Cowdray, and Midhurst and Petersfield have a good range of restaurants and coffee shops. It is about half an hour's drive to Chichester (with the Festival Theatre) and 40 minutes to Winchester. HMS Victory at Portsmouth (and the submarine museum) are also about 40 minutes away.

Fortemente raccomandato
