Albertine Lodge is the perfect location for friends and families to relax in comfort. Situated in peaceful countryside the house is within walking distance of the River Shannon but only 2 minutes drive from the N4, 1 hour 40 minutes from Dublin Airport and 3 miles from the vibrant riverside town of Carrick on Shannon. The area is a great central base for travelling across much of Ireland. Whatever the occasion Albertine Lodge offers you everything you need for a perfect stay.

Lo spazio
Due to the current government COVID-19 restrictions we are unfortunately not able to accept bookings from guests resident in County Dublin for stays until 4th October 2020.

Albertine Lodge was once a working farmhouse. It has been sympathetically restored to blend in with the beautiful natural landscape surrounding it.

The 5 bedrooms are all large and every bed has a comfortable memory foam topper. Two bedrooms have king size beds, two have double beds and one room has 2 smaller doubles beds which can fit 2 or 3 children each. The downstairs bedroom has an ensuite wet room shower. The house comfortably sleeps 10 adults but can accommodate additional children if required.

The open plan kitchen, dining and living area can comfortably seat a full house. The kitchen is well equipped and will make cooking a pleasure with both a country range and an electric hob and oven to cook from. There is a coffee maker (Dulce Gusto compatible), toasted sandwich maker, food processor and blender and many other items to make you feel at home.

There is a large flower and herb garden at the back door and you are welcome to snip a few fresh herbs to add to your meals.

There's a separate cosy sitting room with a wood burning stove, Satellite and Irish TV, plenty of books, magazines childrens toys for the little ones.

Albertine Lodge is named after a beautiful rambling rose which summer guests will see in bloom along with plenty of other scented and colourful flowers in the garden. There is a large barbeque and an outdoor seating and dining area on the patio.
The character of the house was there from Day one and with every little improvement during its restoration it has evolved to become a truly unique and charming place to stay. You will find a mix of old and modern, quirky and cheerful all blended together to make your stay as relaxing, comfortable and homely as possible.

You will have the run of the house throughout your stay. There is plenty of parking for 5 or more cars.

You will be met and welcomed on arrival. After this the owner and family can be contacted as little or often as you need during your stay.

Electric Bikes can be hired and delivered to the door so you can head off and explore the surrounding countryside.

On your doorstep:
Albertine Lodge is at the start of a beautiful country lane. Always a lovely walk in every season, you'll return to the house refreshed and relaxed. If you are lucky enough to visit on a warm summers evening when you glimpse the meadows backlit by the sun through the hedgerows, breathe in the scent of honeysuckle and listen to the bird song, you might just think you were visiting heaven!

1 minute drive away:
Brings you to Albert Lock where you can watch the boats and barges pass between the River Shannon and the Canal.

2 minutes drive:
The house is situated between the two beautifully preserved harbour villages of Dru(website hidden)a and Jamestown. Both are a 2 minute drive or a 15 minute walk. Dru(website hidden)a has village shops and pubs whilst Jamestown hosts the award winning Cottage Restaurant.

5 to 10 minutes drive:
Nearby Carrick on Shannon is only 3 miles away (4.5km). It is the hub of Lovely Leitrim with several restaurants, tea rooms, traditional pubs and modern bars.
Carrick has earned a reputation as a Foodie's haven with several award-winning restaurants and coffee shops along with a farmer's market every Thursday morning, a craft brewery and lots of specialist local food suppliers. Take a walk out over the River Shannon on the boardwalk. Enjoy browsing in boutique clothes shops, antiques, interiors and book shops.
There's lots for children to do with a soft play centre with summer activity camps, playgrounds, cinema and swimming pool. Activities in the area include electric bike hire, 18 hole golf, indoor shooting, go - karting or fishing, Stand up Paddling and other river activities or simply while a way an afternoon relaxing on the Moonriver boat.
If you are into walking and History, the Anthony Trollope walking trail starting at Drumsna takes you from the village down beautiful quiet country lanes which would have been familiar to the great British writer who spend many years in the locality in the 19th Century.

20 minute drive:
Within a 20 minute range you could treat yourselves to afternoon tea and a visit to the beautiful historic gardens of Lough Rynn Castle. Spend a day at Lough Key Forest Park and Activity Centre where you can try Ziplining, take a tree top walk or enjoy a picnic on the lake shore.
Kilronan Castle boasts a truly world class spa and do great day packages if you want to really wind down.
There are heaps more places within a short driving distance including numerous walking trails, an Eagle centre, Strokestown House and National Famine Museum , Arigna Mining Centre, horse riding, beautiful Glencar waterfall, Lough Gill and Parke's Castle, water sports and Tullaboy pet farm - fun even without little ones!

The Rossinver Organic Centre is about a 45 minutes away and is a lovely place to appreciate the Good Life.
If you're yearning for some sea air, you can reach the stunning coastlines of Counties Sligo and Donegal on the Wild Atlantic Way in just under an hour.

In a rural location so it would be restrictive without a car but not impossible for a short stay using taxis. Train and buses from Dublin stop in Carrick on Shannon. Carrick on Shannon is a 50 minute drive from Knock west of Ireland Airport and a 1 hour
50 minutes drive from Dublin Aiport.

Whilst you are surrounded by nature the house is situated on a road and it is not in isolation with neighbours nearby.
Baby provisions including cot available on request.
Unfortunately the downstairs bathrooms cannot accommodate wheelchairs. However the house may still be suitable for some people with limited mobility as the downstairs ensuite bathroom has a walk in shower and there are no steps to the house.

I love travelling and have been lucky enough to visit over 50 countries. Japan, Ethiopia, India and New York are the places I would most like to return to. I have worked in London, Italy and Malawi. My travelling days have shaped my love of interiors, gardening and cooking. I am from the UK but I have lived in Ireland for the past 10 years since marrying my lovely Irish husband. We have 3 children keeping us very busy. I love the easy going life, the peace and beauty on my doorstep and the warm hearts and kindness of so many people here.
