Retreat to the multiple decks and hideaways of this sustainable getaway and enjoy the experience of living in an eco-house. Edna Cottage is a unique offering, within gentle strolling distance of Stirling village, but completely surrounded by nature. Edna is perfect as a peaceful couples retreat or a wonderland for little ones to explore; a welcoming and luxurious cottage and a fabulous base from which to experience the Adelaide Hills (and now with EV charging too).

Lo spazio
Escape to Edna Cottage, a charming eco-house hidden amongst the trees, surrounded by native fauna, flora and providing effortless indulgence for your next hills escape.
Edna Cottage immerses you in a relaxed and uniquely Adelaide Hills setting within a five minute walk to the delightful life of Stirling village. Stirling is nestled amongst Adelaide’s pristine hinterland, a scenic fifteen minute drive from the CBD and boasts picturesque streets you will love to explore and an abundance of eateries showcasing fresh local produce, food and wine.
The Edna Cottage concept is an extension of Kate and James’ passion for sustainable low impact living, natural resources, eco-friendly existence and a way for them to share their love and knowledge of the Adelaide Hills with guests from near and far.
Boasting a flexible floor-plan with recently renovated kitchen and bathrooms, enjoy the split-level, open plan layout with its peaceful reading nooks, secluded terraces and a lush green outlook from every window. Relax and immerse yourself in front of the large north facing windows overlooking the meandering creek, snuggle up by the cosy log fire, soak in the luxurious stone bath tub with a glass of wine or enjoy outdoor living and dining on the timber decks.
Kate and James look forward to welcoming you to your tranquil, private getaway and spoiling you in the beautiful Edna Cottage.

The Space
Inside:
Walk into the main entrance and be greeted by the heart of the house, a beautifully crafted rammed earth wall which helps to moderate the temperature of the cottage keeping you nice and warm in the wintertime and cooler in the summer months.
The open plan living, kitchen and dining area has a beautifully curved timber ceiling, and views across the garden and into the trees, opening out onto a peaceful deck. There is a full sized, well appointed kitchen with a large fridge and induction cooktop & oven perfect for cooking up a feast with the abundant local produce gathered on your explorations. There’s also a dining table large enough to host a feast for six comfortably.
There is a cosy log burner to keep you warm in winter and reverse cycle air conditioning for use year round (though it is rarely needed due to the construction and orientation of the house).
The Master bedroom with its gorgeous hardwood parquet floor is upstairs and has a large walk in robe. The queen bed has high quality linen and a gorgeous outlook onto the trees. Walk through the private door to the luxurious upstairs bathroom and find a huge freestanding bath with pampering treats and a relaxing shower as well as a washing machine.
Downstairs are two further bedrooms with soft carpets underfoot which share a newly renovated bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. The first bedroom has a queen sized bed and the other has two single beds, both with high quality linen. Enjoy your own separate entrances to these bedrooms and a lower deck looking out at the seasonal creek.

Outside:
Collect some citrus fruit or apples from the established orchard of fruit trees or gather some herbs from the wicking beds to enjoy with your meal. Explore Edna Cottage’s own secret bush track which meanders next to the creek and acts as a pleasant little short cut into Stirling. Keep an eye out for Koalas who are frequent visitors to the gum trees at the top of the drive, along with kookaburras, cockatoos and possums.
Sit on the private deck and sip a fine local gin while watching the little ones play on the sturdy timber swing set and slide or in the sandpit. There’s plenty of exploring to be done while a hidden fence separates the garden from the creek beyond keeping everyone safe.

Eco-features:
Enda Cottage was built as an Eco house in 2003 and is packed with sustainable features such as…
- Newly installed 7.2kW universal charger which takes all the main Electric Vehicles (Type 1 & Type 2 plugs).
- Radially sawn cypress pine cladding which minimises waste from the milling process.
- Rammed earth wall at entrance to house which stores heat from the fire in winter and stays cool in the summer helping to maintain an even temperature year round
- Rainwater tanks to collect water for the gardens and for use within the house following UV filtration (filters changed annually). A high power Grundfos pump ensures excellent water pressure to the house.
- Sweeping north facing windows which let in warm winter sun, but are well shaded in the summer to keep the house cool.
- Solar panels which feed power to the house during the day and back into the grid when excess is available.
- Breathable building membranes and use of low VOC paints and naturally oiled timbers (Organoil) to minimise toxins and maximise the health of the house and its inhabitants.
