Read or socialize in the sunken garden listening to water trickle through the rocks, relax in the hot tub, or enjoy the views of the Olympic Mountain Range from the balcony. This 3 story, 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom historic mansion has something for everyone.

If you think the Appleby house in Steilacoom Washington is amazing (Daren’s other vintage home in Steilacoom), we can’t wait until you see The Columns. This beautifully restored and fully decorated home is only 6 miles from the bustling business center of Dupont Washington (short drive to Seattle and Tacoma), 10 minutes from the legendary Chamber Bay Golf Course, a short ferry ride from Anderson Island, and 18 miles from Olympia (the State Capital).

The Columns is driving distance to Pikes Place Market, Seattle Center, Mt Rainier, the Olympic National Park, the Pacific Ocean, Tacoma, Gig Harbor, Olympia, Bellevue and even Portland Oregon (2 hours). Vancouver BC Canada is only 3-4 hours away. Western Washington is home to Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Starbucks, Costco, Alaska Airlines, Nordstrom, and T-Mobile. Visit local schools such as University of Washington, Seattle University, University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran University, and others.

On the backside of the columns is a one bedroom apartment with bathroom, kitchen, comfortable queen bed, and a private balcony. This apartment has it’s own separate entrance/exit. This apartment may or may not be rented to another guest while you are a guest at The Columns. However, these guests will not interfere with your plans.

On the first story of The Columns in an entryway hall, a family room a living room with fireplace and mantle, a dining room, a large and beautiful kitchen and breakfast nook, a TV room/library and a music room with an antique piano, and office with a large antique rollmop tesk, and a bathroom. On the second story are four bedrooms with queen beds and two bathrooms, (one bathroom is connected to the master bedroom). There is also a spacious balcony containing patio furniture, plants, and the most amazing view of the Puget Sound and the Olympic National Park mountain range. On the third story is another bathroom, a large bay window to view the bay, and a large open space intended for multiple purposes. This room could be used for additional portable mattresses, games and family activities.

Guests have access to the four bedrooms in all of the living spaces. The full kitchen fully stocked with a breakfast nook and a dining room. The table can fit 10 to 12 people but it is seated forsix. Additional chairs can be found in storage. Additional leaves can be found in the closet. Guests have access to a large hot tub, and a wonderful sitting area by a babbling brook under beautiful trees trees. There is a large barbecue grill available to guests and a large yard-about a third of an acre. Guests do not have access to the garages or the basement. There’s an apartment attached to the house with a separate entrance, which may be rented by another guest or occupied by a long-term renter or myself. Guests should park on the side of the home near the mailboxes. Occupants of the apartment park back by the garages.

There are several maintenance people who may visit the property while you were there. I will try to let you know when they will be coming and going. This property has a lot of beautiful trees, shrubs, grass and landscaping and needs constant care to maintain. We will try to work around your schedule to make sure that it does not interfere with any of your plans.

Pets may be allowed with prior permission before coming to the property. Please let us know the specifics before booking. The columns includes a dog run at the far end of the garage is where you can find the entrance to the doctor in from the back of the property. Please be respectful with your pets. Please clean up after them and make sure they do not track any dirt in the house. Pets are to remain downstairs or ideally outside in the dog run. We have included the doghouse in the dog run.
