You’ll have the top floor all to yourself in this beautiful house in the Forest of Dean; two bedrooms, a bathroom and basic kitchenette.

The nightly badger encounter at the front door, is magical! The rooms have luxury linens and the beds are extremely comfortable - no expense has been spared.

Best of all, you’ll have the 6 person hot-tub, patio, and gas BBQ all to yourself. Rent the two e-bikes or inflatable canoes to explore the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Lo spazio
I live in the house on the ground floor, you will have the whole top floor to yourselves without interruption. We only share the entrance hall (see the Facebook Page 'Malorne Bed & Breakfast' for a video of the layout).

I have two cats who stay in my spaces and do not enter yours. However, they do like people and will most likely approach you in the outdoor spaces (Wilfy likes to sit on the edge of the hot tub when you’re in it!).

You’ll have parking for 2 cars on the drive, and exclusive use of the hot tub, patio, 2 loungers, outdoor table & chairs, and gas/charcoal BBQ with stone-baked pizza oven.

Bedroom 2 has a fold away table and chairs for 4 people, for breakfast and those takeaway nights in.

There is a small breakfast area/kitchenette on the landing, with toaster, kettle, fridge and microwave.

Continental breakfast is provided; bread for toasting with various jams, marmite and peanut butter, a bowl of fruit, pastries or bagels, a variety of cereals, different flavours of porridge, tea and coffee.

Both rooms have 42”, 4K ultra HD, smart TV’s, with SKY, Netflix and Amazon Prime. The bedrooms also have fans for those hot summer nights.

I can give you a self-check in experience or guided check-in, at your request.

Sitting in the hot tub from dusk into night is a magical experience. Hear owls calling to each other and see bats whizzing by. With hot tub lights off and the right conditions you can also clearly see the Milky Way overhead thanks to this being a dark sky area. Shooting stars are common.

You can use the hot tub until 10.30pm. After that there is a ‘quiet hours’ policy, for my neighbours sake.

The wildlife in the area is spectacular. You can get really close to the badgers who come right up to the front door at night for the tasty treats I leave them. I’ve counted 31 types of birds that have visited the feeders. See Malorne B&B on IG and FB pages for photos and videos.

A pair of Eurasian beavers live in a 4-acre enclosure 5 minutes from the house. You may see kingfishers, three types of deer and wild boar. And if you’re REALLY lucky, you may even spot the rare white albino deer in the forest, who I call ‘Malorne’. A group of 18 Pine Martins were also recently released in the Forest of Dean as part of a rewilding project.

From the top of the road there’s a viewpoint - see 50 miles across to the Brecon Beacons on a clear day. Perfect for sunset watching.

The house is located right on the cycling and walking trails in the Forest and only 10 minutes drive from the beautiful river Wye - lovely for a wild swim or canoeing trip.

Cycling in the forest is fantastic with mountain bike trails to sort all levels of experience. You can rent my two electric bikes for £60 a day, per bike. They make covering large distances or going up hills very easy!

Exploring the River Wye is a wonderful experience. You can rent my two x 2-man inflatable canoes for £45 a day, per canoe (fits into the boot of the car and includes buoyancy aids and dry barrel). If you’d like a guided half-day river trip, including lunch, it’s £135. Please arrange with me in advance.

It’s a great way to spot herons, little egrets, dippers, kingfishers and swans. During the summer months you can be surrounded by Sand Martins, who nest in the river banks. There are shallow rapids, very easy to navigate for even the most inexperienced, but fast enough to put a big smile on your face! Take a picnic and stop on one of the beaches along the way to make it a wonderful day out.

Due to COVID-19 you’ll need to bring your own helmets for both cycling and canoeing. You can buy them in the forest. Helmets are compulsory for anyone hiring our bikes, and for under 18’s in the canoes, and is optional for adults in the canoes.

See the Terms & Conditions for the bikes and canoes in the house manual.

One night stays are possible but need to be arranged by separate negotiation as there is an additional £60 charge to cover our increased cleaning & laundry fees. Please message me to arrange.

Accesso per gli ospiti

We’re friendly and welcoming and live with two cats. We’re clean and tidy non-smokers. Nothing is too much trouble to ask me. I am a vegan (but not one of those crazy, preaching types who expects my guests to be!) so I understand the difficulty in trying to get gluten-free, sugar-free, meat-free, etc, when away from home. As a host, I will do my very best to accommodate your needs if you let me know them upfront. I spent 21 years on a six-figure salary, working away every week for the corporate world, but was recently made redundant. Part of me was terrified but another part of me was relieved! In a bid to help with mortgage payments I turned to Airbnb. Sometimes it feels a little surreal, like I’m on one of those Ben Fogle ‘Lives in the Wild’ episodes! The Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley is a wild and wonderful place and we have fallen deeply in love with it since moving here. My mission is to make sure you have the very best time whilst you’re here.

Durante il tuo soggiorno
We give our best efforts to keep you and us safe from Covid-19, although there are no guarantees.

We operate a social distancing policy on check in so I’m afraid that we won’t be able to help you with your luggage though we will talk you through how everything works. You probably won’t see us again for the remainder of your holiday but we will be available by text or phone should you need us.

We follow strict guidelines around cleaning. Find the details in the listing.

If you rent our e-bikes or canoes, because of COVID-19, they will be cleaned and sanitised before your use but you’ll need to bring your own helmets. You can also buy them in the forest.
