Spacious, family friendly home features many built-in furnishings handmade from locally salvaged blue-stained pine. Private, covered patio and unheated in-ground pool in the tree filled backyard. Accessible home – all on one level with wheelchair accessible shower, wide hallways, paved walkways around house, and a pool lift. Ample parking. Quiet neighborhood. Two neighboring vacation rentals are connected by paved pathways but with visual privacy. Parties and events are not allowed.

This 2546sq.ft. ranch-style home, with 5-bedroom, 3 bathrooms, and 2 full kitchens, is located on 2.5 acres, adjacent to two other 2.5 acre parcels with vacation rentals connected by paved pathways, each with differing amenities and ambience. The homes are nestled among live oak covered hills teeming with wildlife. You are likely to see jack rabbits, deer, quail, red tail hawks, and even the occasional feral peacock.

Step through the front door into the family room with large, comfy couch and flat-screen TV with Roku, shelves stocked with books and board games, and a view of the backyard with covered patio and in-ground pool. The home was recently refurbished with waterproof laminate wood and tile floors throughout and new granite counter tops in the kitchens and bathrooms. Showers and tub have tile surrounds and two have adaptable handheld showerheads. The hall to your left leads to a freshly tiled bathroom and three bedrooms. All bedrooms have walk-in closets, window desks, blackout curtains and separate access doors to the outdoors. To your left, find two bedrooms, one furnished with a queen-sized bed and the other with two twin beds. At the end of the hall to your right, find the luxurious master bedroom with king-sized 4-poster bed and en suite bathroom with newly tiled shower. The sliding glass door opens onto the large, covered patio where you can barbecue or swim in the fully fenced pool.

Walk back down the hall to the family room. Through the barn doors on your right is the bunk room with 5 bed, 2 full, and 3 twin. Walk through the family room to the kitchen and dining area with island and bar. Through the door between the dining area and kitchen is a separate one-bedroom apartment with a full kitchen, couch, chairs and dining area in the common area, a queen bed in the bedroom, and private bathroom.

The newly remodeled kitchens have everything you'll need for preparing and serving home-style to gourmet meals. Through the main kitchen, find the laundry room equipped with washer and dryer.

Despite being a very small town, Ahwahnee has quite a bit to offer visitors, including: 1. easy access to the area’s rivers and trails, 2. the Ahwahnee Quick Mart for purchasing gas and essentials, 3. the Hitching Post Bar & Grill, a family-friendly gathering place serving generous portions with tasty daily specials, arcade games, and pool tables, 4. Wassama Round House State Historic Park, a ceremonial meeting place for local Native Americans, 5. River Creek, a picturesque 9-hole golf course, and 6. Sierra Meadows, an entertainment venue offering a variety of concerts and events throughout the year.

Oakhurst, six miles south, has just about anything you’ll need for your holiday enjoyment: 1. three large, well-stocked grocery stores, 2. a multiplex movie theater, 3. a variety of fast food, casual, and high-end restaurants, 4. churches of many denominations, 5. Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park, which recaptures the feeling of 19th Century life in the Sierra Nevada foothills, 6. an assortment of shops where you can purchase anything from books, to gifts and handmade jewelry, to locally brewed beer, handmade spirits, and locally fermented and bottled wine, 7. recreational opportunities, including several art galleries displaying local artists, axe throwing, a float spa, and various classes, events, and concerts throughout the year. 12.3 miles north of Oakhurst, via Highway 41 and Sky Ranch Road (Road 632), away from the tourist crowds, Nelder Grove shares its special magic, a uniquely personal experience of the giant sequoias.

14 miles north of Oakhurst, discover the temperate waters of Bass Lake, named one of "The West's Best Lakes", by Sunset Magazine. Nestled among towering pines and granite cliffs, you’ll find outdoor adventures for the whole family including excellent fishing, swimming, sandy beaches, boat rentals, hiking trails, and a variety of dining options.

From Bass Lake, you can begin a journey of discovery along the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway, listed as a "Hidden Gem," by Visit California. Nearly 100 miles of high country roads wind through the Sierra National Forest with breathtaking panoramas, amazing vistas, unique rock formations and even a charming general store with mouthwatering hamburgers and freshly baked pie.

Since the home is located almost equidistant between the south and east gates of Yosemite National Park, an unforgettable trip is to drive 32 miles southeast via Highway 49 and turn north through Oakhurst via Highway 41 to the south gate of Yosemite National Park to enter Yosemite Valley through the tunnel which opens to a spectacular view of the valley below. Then, return home via the east gate through Mariposa via Highway 140 to Highway 49 along the Wild and Scenic Merced River, a great place for swimming, hiking, fishing, rafting, and gold-panning.

I was born and raised on the east coast, moved to California in my 20’s, and have lived here ever since. I worked as an RN in San Francisco before moving to the mountains and running three intermediate care facilities for developmentally disabled adults in Ahwahnee. That business closed a few years ago, and now the former care homes are taking on a new life as vacation rentals.

The homes retain some of their former features, such as wheelchair accessible showers and pool, paved pathways around and between the homes, but most everything else is new. Although the homes are all connected, they’re far enough apart for privacy on 7 park-like acres of live oaks and rock outcroppings.

I love living in the beautiful Sierra Nevada foothills and look forward to meeting new people, answering questions, suggesting places enjoyed by locals, and hearing from guests about favorite destinations and experiences for future exploration.
