Informazioni sull'alloggio di Andrea

Our traditional Nordic cabin is situated on a beautiful lake overlooking the mountains in the western region of Iceland. Ideal for couples or small families, this makes a great base for exploring the region with its beautiful waterfalls, historical sites, great hiking and easy access to Iceland's "must see" attractions of the Golden Circle, with Thingvellir National Park being a 90 minute drive away. Snaefellsnes Peninsula is a must see experience and is only a 30 minute drive from the cabin.

Lo spazio
Our traditional Nordic cabin was imported from Norway back in the 90's and has been carefully maintained and modernised to provide a mix of traditional and modern Nordic living to make for a cosy, comfortable and relaxing stay.
The cabin sits in its own secluded grounds with spectacular views in both the summer and winter. The open plan living gives you the typical Nordic experience with a compact yet functional kitchen area which has plenty of storage and work-space, has all the modern appliances, such as an electric hob, counter top convection oven, Fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster, coffee maker and dishwasher along side all the utensils you could need. The dining area looks out at a 180 degree view of the lake and mountains which makes for an amazing breakfast and coffee experience. The side door leads onto the outside deck area which runs around three sides of the cabin.

The cosy lounge area with a traditional log burner and comfortable leather sofa adorned with sheepskins and cushions makes for some of the best relaxing evenings, with the candles flickering away and just the sound of birds and the wind outside . There are plenty of books and games to read and use and a Bluetooth speaker to connect your favourite chilled music to.

The bedrooms are on the ground floor as the sleeping loft up the stairs is private. The main bedroom is super cosy with a comfortable double bed and matching bedside table and lamps. We have squeezed in a wardrobe so that you have plenty of storage space for your clothes. The second bedroom is set up with full size bunk beds to accommodate either two children or even two more adults and chest of drawers for your clothes. The bathroom has been re-fitted to provide a modern sink with storage space and also houses a new efficient hot water heater/tank and a washing machine. Please note that the shower is NOT thermostatic so running another water source at the same time could affect the shower water temperature. The hallway has a large storage unit to stow your coats and shoes away.

Outside, the private landscaped garden offers complete privacy with views of mountains on both sides and the lake, which is a short stroll down the track. Laid to lawn with shrubs, mature Birch and Conifer trees and a traditional Elf Stone, the garden offers peace and tranquillity, with just birdsong and the wind to listen to. There is a decked area all around the house with a picnic table and comfy chairs for outside dining and star-gazing at night. The Aurora makes for a spectacular sight over the mountains on a clear winters night!
The hot tub is very secluded and makes for a relaxing time soaking in the hot water and taking in the spectacular views of the mountains with a glass of your favourite tipple! There is a storage shed but this is locked and private.
There is no broad-band fibre here in the country but we offer a hi-speed 4G wi-fi router which is perfectly capable of running multiple devices at constant speeds as well as streaming film or music. We regularly work on websites here with two laptops and social on I-phones as well as streaming, with no issues.

Dove ti troverai

Skorradalshreppur, Islanda

Our cabin is located in Iceland's Western Region, approximately 15 minutes from the town of Borganes. It sits on a large plot of land on the slopes of a beautiful valley looking over a lake and the mountains. It is both beautiful in the summer and equally in the snow-covered winter. The capital Reykjavik is 75 minutes and Keflavik International Airport is 120 minutes drive away.
The area is adorned with mountains, rivers, waterfalls, lakes, thermal springs and forests, which makes for an amazing sensory experience and takes you to the core of Icelandic nature. As well as being close to the main attractions on the Golden Circle, this area offers more than enough to make for a holiday on its own. The Geothermal springs at Deildartunguhver is only 15 minutes away and is Europe's most powerful hot spring. It also houses the amazing Krauma spa where you can soak yourself in different temperature pools and relax before sampling some great local cuisine. Within an hours drive there are lots of natural and cultural attractions (too many to list here), but naming a few - Barnafossar and Hraunfossar waterfalls and Reykholt, home to the infamous Icelandic Historian Snorri Sturluson with its interesting and informative Musuem; then onward up the valley to the wooded area around Husafell and the lava caves at Vidgelmir with spectacular views to the Langjokull Glacier. Going the other way out through Borgarnes, which houses the must see Icelandic Settlement Centre and a few cozy little Coffee shops along with your choice of supermarkets, chemist, fuel stations, restaurants and independent shops including a great farmers market shop; you have easy access to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula with a plethora of amazing sights including the pretty harbour town of Stykkisholmur (one of our favourite places), Kirkjufell and the mystical mountain/glacier of Snaefellsjokull which was the inspiration for Jules Verne's novel "Journey to the centre of the earth". In fact there is so much to do and see we have compiled a folder with information booklets for these areas and more at the cabin.
