Vintage camper in Phoenix's first historic neighborhood, Phoenix Homesteads. Area is famous for the tallest trees, adobe homes, friendly artistic neighbors, and its birth as a New Deal commune. We are in the heart of Phoenix, yet it feels like the wilderness. Our house is full of flowers, gardens, birds, cats, and dogs. We were featured in Phoenix Better Homes and Gardens for our wildflowers. The camper is vintage, but with new plumbing, electrical, heating, AC, patio, and toilet. Dogs ok.

Lo spazio
This cozy camper has been rescued and restored. It lives under lots of trees and is surrounded by flowers. It is a place where people who appreciate history, community, animals, and stars can unplug as well as set up a laptop to work. There is an outside AZ style kitchen (BBQ, mini fridge, and cooking utensils). We have an old fashioned key to lock it. We have off-street parking for your car inside our gated garden area.
To take a shower, there is an outdoor shower as well as a large shared shower in the main house. For the outdoor shower, you are welcome to bring your bathing suit and/or close the curtains for 98% privacy.
The outdoor kitchens has a BBQ with a single burner stove, mini refrigerator, an hammock. The camper has a microwave inside and sink.
Storage for clothing and such is both in the camper, and in the camper's dedicated outside shed/kitchen.

One of our lovely lodgers made an Instagram video documenting his stay here: traveling.chi on instagram. If you want to see a fun video

Phoenix, Arizona, Stati Uniti

To many, the Phoenix Homesteads neighborhood is the street with the tall trees in central Phoenix.

Few people know that the neighborhood and its famous trees along Pinchot Avenue had their origins from a small New Deal program called the Subsistence Homestead Division, which was a ‘back-to-the-land’ movement involving the purchase of farmland near industrial centers and subdividing it into one to five-acre subsistence farms where industrial workers could do part-time farming while working in nearby industrial centers.

The program began in 1933. In 1935 it was absorbed into the Resettlement Division, and then absorbed again into the Farm Security Administration in 1937.

Across the nation only 34 new rural communities were formed. Few of them were located in the west and only Phoenix Homesteads was located in Arizona.

We are talkative hosts if you want to chit chat, but also not sharing the same space with guests. Interaction is welcome, so let us know if you want quiet or local hints etc. There are lots of neighbors who might invite you to walk dogs in the morning. The neighbors are known for dog walking and community involvement.
