Kosi Bay forms part of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands Park, a World Heritage Site and is made up of four interconnected lakes that drain into the Indian Ocean. The area is remote, in far north rural KwaZulu Natal (12km from the Mozambican border), and remains largely untouched with bird and fish species in abundance and hippos and crocs still found in the lakes.

Lunamanzi Lodge is a fully-furnished, self-catering cottage a short walk near the Kosi Lake so pop in for a morning swim.

Lo spazio
Visitors however do need to bring their own camping chairs, towels – and any picnic utensils for the beach.

Shared Spaces- There are 2 bomas located outside for braai's and celebration. Grill and tongs are provided.

Location- You will be able to reach the lodge in an ordinary car. However, it is highly recommended that you use a 4 x 4 for travel within the area. There is 4 x 4 transport available for hire and fees can be negotiated with the driver.

Lunamanzi aims to provide the bush experience and is positioned close to natural heritage sites. As we are remote, please take care of travel times between locations. Most places are between 20min- 1hour.

Safety- Lunamanzi prides itself at providing an authentic bush experience. As such, at night hippos come out to graze. We therefore recommend no wandering outside of the gates at night.

This is a low risk malaria area. There has been some spraying of the area, but visitors are advised to take the necessary precautions.

I work in Johannesburg, South Africa as a materials developer on educational publications. I love travel and exploring new places - but don't get enough time to do it. While I live in a city, I do like escaping to the more rural parts of the country - more especially where there are beautiful beaches and lakes.
