Villa Abiman is a fully staffed, four-bedroom beachfront villa overlooking a quiet stretch of Sri Lanka’s southern coastline. The house is elevated, with large gardens and ocean views through palm tree tops. There is an infinity swimming pool, deck, and generous lounge and dining verandas. Inside is a spacious open plan living room, a well equipped guest kitchen, and bar counter. All four bedrooms are sea-facing, with a super-king four-poster bed, AC, fan, attached bathroom and all amenities.

Lo spazio
Villa Abiman sits on one acre of beachfront land. The Villa has large gardens front and back, providing ample space for outdoor games or relaxing in a hammock or sun lounger. Direct access to the sandy beach is through the garden gate. The beach is wide and long and perfect for beach walks, games, flying kites and making sandcastles. In season the waves are gentle and the waters swimmable. At other times the waves can be fun for bodyboarding. There is an outdoor shower next to the gate to wash off sand and salt.

The saltwater infinity pool overlooks the ocean and has a jacuzzi and shallow areas perfect for cooling off. The pool is lit up at sundown so you can enjoy a night swim. The pool deck is furnished with sun loungers and and seating and palm trees fringed with spider lilies provide shady spaces.

A veranda wraps around the Villa forming picturesque walkways and large, covered, comfortable spaces for dining and lounging. The dining table seats eight to ten people. The veranda lounge has a big day bed, chairs and coffee tables. The verandas have ceiling fans and are well lit in the evenings.

Inside is a spacious, open-plan living room with a well-equipped guest kitchen, bar counter and stools. The lounge is furnished with armchairs and a sofa, and a cabinet full of books, games and puzzles.

All four bedrooms are sea-facing and are equipped with ACs and ceiling fans, super king-sized four-poster beds, mosquito nets, a safe, ample closet space and a desk/vanity with a chair. Bedrooms 1 and 2 are attached to the main building and Bedrooms 3 and 4 are in a separate wing connected to the main house by a covered walkway. With family groups in mind, there are interconnecting doors between Bedrooms 1 and 2, and between Bedrooms 3 and 4, which alternatively can be locked for complete peace and privacy. An extra bed/cot can be put up in the bedrooms. All the bedrooms have private, attached bathrooms.

Bedroom 1 “Aalindaya” This tranquil room sits at the end of the main house with its own veranda and a view of the pool, palm trees and the sea beyond. A large bathroom opens out through antique doors to private, outdoor, twin showers.

Bedroom 2 “Sepalika” This is the largest bedroom, furnished with dark wood, crisp white, and deep ocean blues. The two single four-poster beds can be put together to make a super king-sized double. There is ample space for an extra bed. The bathroom has a free standing bathtub as well as a shower.

Bedroom 3 “Tambili” Relax into the antique styled four-poster bed surrounded by the colours of sunshine. The room looks out over the lily pond with views of the palm trees and ocean. It has a separate walk-in closet and an ensuite with shower.

Bedroom 4 “Nelum” This is another light and airy room with white furniture and colours of the sea and sky. Large double-doors open onto a veranda, fringed with Hibiscus flowers and furnished with a large daybed and chairs. The room has a walk-in closet and an ensuite with shower.

Accesso per gli ospiti
Our guests will have the exclusive use of the entire Villa. This includes gardens front and back, private swimming pool and deck, bedroom, lounge and dining verandas, open plan living room with kitchen and bar counter, the four bedrooms each with an attached bathroom, and a powder room. Guests also have access to a laundry room and drying area.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
Access to the beach is through the lower garden which is reached by steps. There is also a lane very close by which can be used as alternative to the steps for beach access.

There are two extra beds available for groups of more than 8 people which can be put up in the bedrooms.

Villa Abiman has a team of full time staff; a Manager, a Housekeeper and a Cook who all live on site, and a House Help and Gardener who come in daily.

The staff will make beds, clean bedrooms and bathrooms and provide a turn down service in the evening. The living areas, garden and pool are also cleaned and tidied daily. There is a laundry room and drying area and the staff can do washing and ironing for you free of charge.

Our cook prepares breakfast which is included in the villa rental. We always have tropical fruits, Sri Lankan curd with kitul treacle, toast, and of course Sri Lankan tea and coffee. You can choose between a cooked breakfast with pancakes/waffles, or eggs with trimmings, or a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast.

Lunch and dinner can also be made for you. Do try the traditional Sri Lankan rice and curry meal which can be made more or less spicy to suit your taste. The cook can also prepare non-Sri Lankan meals. He will discuss daily what you would like to eat and when. You pay for the cost of the ingredients plus a small cooking fee.

We have two kitchens at Villa Abiman. A “wet kitchen” where staff prepare your meals, and an open plan guest kitchen. Here you can make snacks, fix drinks or cook for yourself if you so wish. Our staff will be happy to shop or advise you where to buy fish, seafood and other ingredients and will gladly show you how to make local dishes.

Filtered, purified, safe drinking water is provided free at the villa. We want to reduce plastic waste by avoiding buying water in single-use, throw-away bottles. We have plenty of water jugs, glass, and non-breakable water bottles for your use.

We have tried to think of the practical things that can add to your holiday experience. Here is a list of what we provide:

The beach by the house is very quiet, several kilometres long, and ideal for walking. If you want a change of scene from your own private beach, Hiriketiya (10 minutes ) is a great place to surf, for beginners (rentals and lessons are available) as well as experienced surfers. Going 10 minutes in the other direction brings you to Tallalla another of Sri Lankas best beaches. Dondra lighthouse (15 minutes) at the southernmost point of Sri Lanka makes for a nice short excursion and there are several temples close by.

For those interested in wildlife, Whale watching in Mirissa (45 minutes) is not to be missed. Bundala national park (1.5 hours away) is great for bird watching and if you want to spot leopards, elephants and crocodiles you can head to Yala National Park (2.5 hours). The turtle conservation project in Rekawa (1 hour) accept visitors and in the evenings you can watch turtles coming up onto the beach.

There are several temples in the vicinity that are worth visiting and the historical city of Galle (1 hour), dating back to the Dutch colonial period, makes for a nice day trip.
