San Vicente, MIMAROPA, Filippine

Kabantagan Beach House is located on Kemdeng Beach in the province of San Vicente, MIMAROPA, Philippines. It is a hidden gem and offers guests a place to unwind and get back to simple living. Please note we are not in Port Barton which takes approximately 45mins by boat to reach from the house.

If you want peace and quiet in a local location then you will love it here. The province of San Vicente is expecting a massive boost in tourism. Visit now - before it becomes too popular!

Authentic Filipino neighbourhood surrounded by nature - frogs, cicadas, birds, squirrels & monkeys. Other animals that occasionally wander past the house are free-range pigs, goats & chickens. The humble carabao (water-buffalo) is used by locals for farming & transportation - you will sometimes see these animals meander by.

Beautiful clean beach for swimming and only a boat ride to a great place to snorkel in crystal clear water.

Green Sea turtles swim & visit this area. These turtles are endangered so please give plenty of space if you see them emerge from or move toward the sea.

Coconut harvesting may be in progress during your stay. This is an amazing sight to witness where men climb the 10m high trees to cut down the mature coconuts.

Lie at night on the beach and drown in the most spectacular night sky - shooting stars, roaming satellites & the Milky Way will not disappoint.

Enjoy daily fresh buco (coconut) juice - it is a delicious, nutritious & natural drink that's extremely good for you. Our caretaker can show you how to grate coconuts & squeeze the flesh to produce coconut cream - perfect in recipes or for your cocktail.

The closest (and only) neighbour lives with his young family in a small Filipino style house approx 250m away. He is a teacher in the local school 2kms from the house.

Island hopping trips (all within an hour boat trip) can be taken to German, Paradise & Exotic Island or Capsalay, Imuruan or Daplac Cove in Boayan Island via the San Vicente Tourist Office. Port Barton is the closest tourist town and is reached by boat in less than an hour.

Waterfalls are at Bigaho & Papawyan Falls.

Important Reminders:

•Sunscreen & insect repellant is highly recommended - mosquitoes, sandflies & UV rays can be strong in Palawan. When swimming in the ocean, please be cautious of jellyfish and plankton bloom which may sting. Jellyfish season is unpredictable and depends on the tide and currents.
•There are no banks or ATMs in San Vicente, so please make sure you have plenty of pesos for your shopping & transportation.
•Tap water is sourced underground. Can be used for cooking as long as it is boiled. Drinking water best purchased in San Vicente in large 20litre refillable containers. There are containers in the house that can be used.

Ruth is Scottish/Australian married to Diokno (Filipino/Australian) with teenage son. Long-time travellers having lived and worked in Australia, Philippines, UK, Europe, Middle East and China. We named our home 'Kabantagan' as this is the Tagbanua word for a particular area. (The Tagbanua are one of the oldest ethnic groups in the Philippines and are largely located in central and northern Palawan.) We welcome you to feel at home at Kabantagan. It is a quiet, calm and safe place. We love this unique and beautiful part of the world and hope you do too!
