PLEASE read the information below in "the Space" regarding the LOCATION, CAT, WATER, TOILET, and check in/out BEFORE booking.

She moves all over the greater London area, so please check below BEFORE you book. Approx locations for 2019 are:

August - Greenford/Northolt/Perivale
September - Alperton/Harlesden
October - Harlesden/Willesden Junction/Kensal Town
November - Little Venice/Paddington

Lo spazio
Come for a stay on my barge. She's my home, so doesn't have that pristine 'hotel feeling' but guests have exclusive run of her throughout your stay!

CAT: You will be sharing the space with my friendly cat Arwen. She will probably want to sleep in the bed (I have yet to find a way to stop her) but she has an uncanny respect humans' privacy when necessary. I repeat - there is a CAT! If that is a problem please do not make a booking.

WATER: The boat has a system which filters canal water for washing, showing, dishes etc. See full details in "Other things to note".

TOILET: The boat is fitted with a compost toilet. This is essentially an elaborate bucket with a toilet seat on top. Wood chips are used as a cover material for any solids and it's perfectly pleasant to use.

LOCATION: The boat is NOT in Kings Cross, I just have to give an address to use Airbnb. She cruises from West London (Alperton/Willesden Junction) to North London and perhaps even further into Hertfordshire. I list the rough location in the main listing but if it is important to you please message me to confirm exactly. I am always close to public transport.

CHECK IN/CHECK OUT: I work long hours Monday to Friday and some Saturday. My work schedule can be chaotic and change at short notice. I will always endeavour to be as accommodating as possible, for example leaving keys out for you let yourself in and leave luggage etc. But it will not always be possible to move straight in and use things on the boat until I am able to get home from work.
BUT you will usually have a very flexible check out date when you leave and I never rush people out. (Unless I have another guest arriving the next day, which is extremely rare).

Accesso per gli ospiti
Guests can access miles of scenic towpath and the boat is always moored near to good public transport links. But please check before you book to make sure the location and access is suitable.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
FILTERED CANAL WATER: In order to ensure a continuous water supply on my boat I use a pump and series of filters to collect water from canal. I have a SEPARATE tank which is filled with tap water. The second tank is for all drinking, cooking, tea/coffee etc. The canal water is NOT safe to drink.

Canal water can be polluted with chemicals, heavy metals, and biological hazards. In order to make it safe for washing and doing dishes it is pumped through four sediment filters of 50, 10, 5 and 1 micron respectively. This filters out all partiuclate matter. The water then goes through a hydrocarbon filter which takes out any oils in the water and then through an activated carbon filter with "KDF" technology which filters out bacteria, heavy metals and numerous other chemicals. The water then goes through a high power UV light which sterilises any biological hazards in the water before flowing into the holding tank.
Before the water reaches the taps and shower it passes (after the holding tank) through a 0.2micron nano-ceramic filter which provides one final micro-barrier which blocks biological material that may have developed in the holding tank.

I live on the boat full time and happily use this water. I am confident the filters make it safe for non-consumption purposes.

The filters are monitored, checked frequently, and changed when required. In addition every 6 months the whole system is flushed through with disinfectant.

If you have concerns then I would suggest you book another space or you could use the drinking water for washing, but you would have to heat it up on the stove for all applications including showering.

The canals are a former industrial waterway which cut right through the heart of some of London's coolest neighbourhoods. They are now home to an eclectic community of live-aboard boaters.

I am a young professional. I live on a boat travelling around Greater London and beyond, often leaving the city to spend some time in the country side. I share the boat with my cat Arwen who is a delight (but who I can take away if essential). It takes a bit of time to explain how everything works on my barge, and I enjoy spending an hour or two chatting to guests when they arrive. After that I will be around in case of trouble, possibly staying with one of my friends who travel round with me in their boats. I am a very laid back host, and I try to keep it like an proper bed and breakfast. Happy to help with any special requests you have for your stay. If you're planning anything special please just let me know in case there are any particular considerations.
