Enjoy a unique home with pool and many amenities on the 16th hole of the De Anza golf course, surrounded by the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

A hip, fun and comfortable midcentury style 3-bedroom house that is renovated & fully equipped; with spacious floorplan for a large group. Sunlight and mountain views pour into the large windows or step outside to beautifully landscaped backyard. Escape the summer heat in the pool and stargaze by the warm fire pit during the cooler nights.

Lo spazio
The house is a Palm Springs style Mid-Century Modern. Enjoy the blue desert sky by day and amazing stars at night. The serenity of the neighborhood is amazing, enjoy the quiet peace of the desert.

The house is very private and has a feeling of a secluded retreat, and yet it is only 10 minutes to downtown Borrego Springs and the State Park Visitors Center. Did you know the Anza Borrego State Park is the largest state park in California? Unusual for state parks, the park surrounds the town of Borrego Springs on four sides.

So what is a mid-century modern house anyway?
If houses reflect the times they were designed, midcentury modern is the architecture of ideas, created by those who believed the forward-looking style could be a vehicle for social change to create a better society. The style stems from the idea that a fulfilling, healthy life begins at home. Characterized by flat planes, very large glass windows and open space, these homes -- built from 1945 to the 1980s -- featured simplicity and an integration with nature, encouraging residents to explore the world in new ways. The views from the floor to ceiling windows invite you outside to enjoy nature.

We have taken a beautifully and uniquely designed house and modernized it to give you a unique experience different from the humdrum hotel. The house has some fresh updates including an updated kitchen, extensive new paint throughout and updated bathrooms. The house has all the modern conveniences you would expect, including high-speed Internet, Wi-Fi throughout the property, large-screen high-definition Roku TV, and high-end espresso machine to name a few. The result is a hip approach to living, with a spacious, comfortable and bright interior, combined with an absolutely fabulous outdoors, right on the golf course. Outdoors, there are places to gather, relax by the pool, take a snooze in a hammock under the trees, or enjoy a cup of coffee while you gaze at the mountains. And at night, gather around the fire for Smore‘s and stories, or dim the lights and marvel at nature's spectacular stars that you will never see in the city, with Milky Way galaxy and planets clearly visible along with shooting stars.

Borrego Springs is completely surrounded by nature, set in the midst of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Enjoy our nature on your own terms, hike a desert canyon or just relax by the pool, play some golf or watch the roadrunners, and always amaze yourself with our dark night sky. There is no hustle-bustle here. Borrego Springs is a small town and we're proud of that, a small town that will seem like home as soon as you get here.

One of the best features of the house is the expansive backyard where you can open the gate and walk onto the 16th Tee of the DeAnza Golf course. Large and spacious, the yard has an outdoor dining table for lunch or games, enjoy a dip in the pool on a hot day, or lounge pool side with your favorite drink. The yard has a trellis for shade and a relaxing hammock under the trees. On the opposite side of the house, the west patio faces the mountains, and has large courtyard with a chiminea available for an evening fire. Both the front and back yard have beautiful desert landscaping to enjoy.

More About The House
Architect Richard M. Zerbe designed The Green House and the original house was built in 1966. The house had two major additions in the 1980’s adding two additional bedrooms and an enclosed garage with workshop.

The Architect: Richard M. Zerbe, AIA
When you define the architectural design of 1950's and 1960's Borrego Springs, it is the work of architect Richard (Dick) Zerbe that is prominent both in style and number. The architect and builder, created a San Diego mid-century modern design that takes into account the unique nature of the desert. He has helped transform Borrego Springs into a modern oasis. His designs are in line with other mid-century modern architects of the period, embracing clean lines and expansive use of glass. Some of Zerbe's designs also draw on his aeronautical background; The Fairway Cottages at De Anza Country Club (1957-59) is an example, with its tapered "ribbing" that echoes the design of early airplane winds. His designs are particularly well suited for the desert - blurring the boundaries between indoors and out, capturing expansive vistas, while taking into account the extreme nature of the desert climate (both hot and cold).

Accesso per gli ospiti
Access the entire house: living room, family room, dining room, breakfast nook, laundry room, pantry, bedrooms, and 2 car garage. East backyard and west courtyard. Walk from the back yard right onto the golf course. Quiet neighborhood to walk or bike.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
Travel light! Enjoy a fully equipped house. The kitchen has cooking utensils, eating and serving utensils and cooking spices and oils. The kitchen also has a coffee maker, espresso machine, toaster, blender, pots, pans, and a baking sheet. The house is fully furnished with sheets, blankets, pillows, bath towels and pool towels. Poolside has several umbrellas if you would like some shade and there are shady spots under trees and roof around the home. The pool room is full of inflatable pool toys, noodles, and squirt guns for water play enjoyment.

If you have questions or want to listen to music, just ask Amazon Alexa. If you prefer to stream your own music from your device, feel free to use the indoor Bluetooth Bose speaker or take the outside speaker to the pool.

The pool is a large and deep pool. The pool is professionally cleaned and serviced on Tuesday (due to periodic desert winds, there may be leaves and debris blown in the pool that will not be cleaned until Tuesday).

****Note: the pool is not normally heated. The pool does have a propane heater which can be turned on by advance reservation at an additional fee to cover the cost of propane. Advance notice is requested as the pool can take 12-24 hours to heat in the coldest months of winter. Fees for the pool heater are an additional cost of $100-200 per stay in the winter (November to March), and $50-$100 per stay anytime else. This may sound like a lot of money, but covers the cost of propane to heat a large, cold pool up to a higher temperature and to continue heating throughout the stay. Thank you for your understanding about this additional expense due to the high cost of propane in California.

If you would like the pool heated, please contact the via the host via the Airbnb site who can give you a specific price based on the time of year (temperature). Once the fee is agreed upon by host and guest, the host will request "payment for extra services" through the Airbnb resolution center. We want you stay to be perfect, so let's discuss the pool heating needs for your visit.

The house has puzzles and games to bring visitors together during the desert evenings and is fully equipped with high-speed internet, WiFi, a 65" TV, xbox, and TVs in two of the bedrooms. Feel free to use the fully equipped laundry room.

Take a ride around the neighborhood on 5 bikes available in the garage. If you need a backpack or water bottles for hiking, or travel chairs to set up while you watch the sunset from Font’s point, they are all available in the garage for your use.

Borrego Springs, California, Stati Uniti

Our neighborhood has many interesting houses (many mid-century) is great for walks, biking and general sightseeing. Sometimes you can see the Borrego Sheep climbing down the hills to the west to get access to water and grass at the golf course! The state park and "downtown" Borrego Springs is a short drive or bike ride away.

Borrego Springs
Located just an hour and a half from San Diego, and two hours from Los Angeles, Borrego Springs is a Southern California resort community largely developed during the 1950’s and surrounded by the Anza Borrego State Park, the largest state park in the United States. Borrego Springs, like it’s better known sister to the north of Palm Springs, has been a retreat for artists, actors and architects. Unlike Palm Springs however, Borrego remains less crowded, more natural, less developed and offers life at a slower more leisured pace.

The house is located in the town of Borrego Springs and at the 16th Tee of the DeAnza golf course. Borrego Springs is in the center of the Anza Borrego State Park. The neighborhood is very quiet, with many birds attracted to the lush golf course and landscaping of the neighboring houses. Take a stroll around the golf course or the streets of the neighborhood. Several desert trails are nearby. Walk 10 minutes to the west and see borrego sheep walk down the steep mountainside and cross into the golf course where they like to graze. At night, the view is SPECTACULAR. Far away from city lights, Borrego Springs is an international "dark sky" community which means there is limited external lighting. This allows an amazing view of the stars and the milky way and shooting star are much easier to see. Just 10 minutes away is the state park headquarters and visitors center which is a must see to learn about the local plants and animals, along with the amazing desert terrain and geography.

We are a retired military family living in Southern California. During our military career we lived all over the world, including living in Germany and The Netherlands for a total of 9 years. We traveled all over Europe when on leave from military duty and were welcomed by many hosts in our travels who opened up their home and made us feel welcome in Germany, The Netherlands, Ireland, Scotland, France, England, Isle of Man, Israel, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Italy, Morocco, Portugal and Belgium. (Rick's favorite trip was riding his motorcycle across England, then ferry to the Isle of Man for the world famous TT races). Now with us becoming an Airbnb host, it is our turn to provide a warm welcome and gracious hospitality to those who visit our Marvelous Mid-Century Home in the serene desert experience of Anza Borrego State Park. We fell in love with Anza Borrego State Park after many weekends camping in our travel trailer. We love the adventure of exploration, finding the desert's hidden treasures, and hiking in the desert, along with the amazing starry nights (and Meteor showers and huge full moons). After one rainy night in our very small camping trailer with our 2 girls, 2 wet dogs, and a bird, we decided to buy a house in Borrego Springs to enjoy with family, friends and guests. We found the perfect house, with a hip mid-century modern design, huge outdoor spaces, beautiful landscaping, and a refreshing pool. In the park, we especially enjoy hiking Palm Canyon, exploring the hidden beauty of the desert in our jeep, and sunrises and sun sets from spectacular Font's Point. We enjoy introducing others to the area for relaxing and peaceful desert getaways, and always get a thrill to show someone the 350-foot dragon sculpture for the first time or their first sunrise from Font's Point. We love helping others make their own lasting memories in the Anza Borrego Park! For a little more about us keep reading. Rick retired from the U.S. Army as a Colonel after 23 years of service. Wanting to continue public service, Rick now runs a large non-profit agency in San Diego whose mission is to create positive change by teaching preschoolers, helping disadvantaged parents afford childcare, and teaching family child care home providers how to serve nutritious meals to the children in their care. Carmen is a board member of the Chula Vista Charitable Foundation and the Chula Vista Library Foundation and is currently attending graduate school at the University of San Diego. We are both licensed head coaches for local youth mountain biking teams in Chula Vista and enjoy other volunteer opportunities in our community. We have some big Star Wars fans in the family (you can find us in Cosplay at Comic Con), have a Jack Russel named Pippin (after the Hobbit in The Lord of The Rings of course), and a bird named...birdie. Currently our favorite game is Exploding Kittens, look for the game in the house in the game area, we highly recommend it. We look forward to meeting you and making your desert visit a memory to cherish! Warmly, Rick and Carmen
