A traditional Indian cultural experience, without the jet lag and a few more amenities is what you will receive at our Brattleboro Shala Destination. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by mountain views and natural meditation spots around our pond. Complementary space indoors, provides guests with rooms decorated with Indian fabrics; a shala (yoga school)where we host morning traditional Ashtanga yoga and an evening gong meditation; and a breakfast menu offering both Indian and western options.

The feel is of an Indian bungalow with the scent of Sandlewood infusing the air, and chai upon arrival.

Inspired by our travels to Asia and the Middle East our guest accommodations are an eclectic mix of cultures, from Turkish towels to Ranjasthani kantha quilts, from Moroccan lighting to from Persian rugs, we have decorated to make your experience feel authentic, yet relaxing; new, yet filled with objects of old.

The Mountain View Guestroom is our largest, and most luxurious guestroom. It features 6 skylights, and two large windows overlooking Round Mountain. It is decorated in calming blue colors, with kantha quilts from India and a lovely sofa with hand-crafted tables. The guest room is inspired by Mt. Kailash in the Himalayas.

This Guest-room has a king bed, and two twin beds (available upon request) plus a pull-out sofa.

Overnight stay price includes:
• Chai upon arrival and a light snack;
• Evening gong meditation with singing bowls;
• Morning Foundations of Ashtanga Yoga with personalized support, and which starts and ends with traditional Sanskrit chanting;
• A breakfast of either Indian or Western origin;
• Unlimited pool until dark and hot-tub access until 10pm;
• Select evenings accommodate an outdoor fire pit;
• An on-campus pond with the option for swimming, or ice skating depending on the season;
• Exclusive access to Setu Designs entire collection- designs and fabrics are only available in Brattleboro- featuring hand-made clothing and accessories designed by us with fabrics from south India;
• Walking trails on-site with mountain hikes nearby;
• Extensive perennial gardens;
• Abundant bird watching, use of binoculars and guides;
• Free parking;
• A large selection of games;
• An extensive library full of yoga and meditation texts acquired in India, not available in the west; and
• A large guest living room with fireplace.

Additional amenities are available for a fee and must be requested prior to your stay:
• Shiatsu Massage;
• Ayurveda Basics where you will learn about the classical approach to health in India including information on doshas (elements that make up body systems), prakriti (base constitution) and vikriti (current states of imbalance) + some tips for daily practice;
• Private Ashtanga yoga class;
• Private gong and singing bowl session;
• Indian cooking class; and
• Eco Walk: Southern New England Trees and Plants (varies by season and usually includes tea making from native species).

Details About Sound Meditation
During sound meditation, participants can expect to partake in call-and-response style chanting featuring talas and tabla; pranayama exercises to settle the mind and connect with the breath; and a deeply relaxing meditation to the sound of gongs and singing bowls. No previous experience necessary.

Here is the description of our yoga classes:
We teach and practice yoga under the lineage of Krishnamacharya, widely considered the father of modern yoga. All of our programming focuses on the combination of breath and movement, and teaching what is appropriate for individual wellness.

Saturday's Class: We offer a class which is based on Krishnamacharya's teaching later in life in Chennai India. In this class participants learn to work with their breath through a series of foundational postures, leading to seated breath-work and meditation exercises.

Sunday's Class: We offer a class which is based on Krishnamacharya's time in Mysore India, where participants learn a set series of dynamic more vigorous postures which build connection between body, breath and mind.
