Thank you for visiting my listing. My name is Seiko. I am a housewife taking care of my families: a husband, two kids and one puppy. Because I am curious about different cultures I used to travel a lot. So I know what a journey is excited and entertaining. On the other hand I also know what a journey is nervous and worrying. However don’t worry anything while you are travelling in Japan. Even if you don’t speak Japanese, please feel free to ask any question. My place is equipped with necessities such as an air conditioner, a refrigerator, a microwave oven, an electric kettle, a washing machine, kitchen utensil and tableware. So please make yourself at home. I will try my best to help you while you are travelling in Japan and make you satisfied. I also let you know many nice places, beautiful natures, interesting cultures and etc. I hope you will understand my country more and make a lot of nice memories.

Things to Do in NAGOYA
---------------------------------
NAGOYA plays an important role in history. Three spots are highly recommended to explore: NAOGYA CASTLE, ATSUTA JINGU & INUYAMA CASTLE.

☆NAGOYA CASTLE☆
History: TOKUGAWA IEYASU, who won the battle of SEKIGAHARA, decided to build NAGOYA CASTLE. The construction of the castle began in 1610 and mostly finished by 1612. TOKUGAWA IEYASU’s ninth son, YOSHINAO, became the first lord of Owari Province and lived in the castle. After that, the castle flourished as the home castle of the Owari TOKUGAWA FAMILY which is the most important of the three TOKUGAWA FAMILIES. Even after the Meiji Restoration (1868), NAGOYA CASTLE was beautiful and was used temporarily as a palace for the Emperor. It became the first castle to be designated a national treasure in 1930. However, in 1945 during WWII, the main castle tower and HOMMARU PALACE were destroyed by the air strike. The NAGOYA people asked for the main castle tower, the symbol of NAGOYA, to be rebuilt. At last, it was rebuilt in 1959.
Access: take the subway Meijo Line to Shiyakusho Station. ( time: 3 min)
Things to see:
-HOMMARU PALACE: It was constructed by TOKUGAWA IEYASU in 1615 to be used as the residence and government offices of the first lord of Owari Province. Both the palace and the main castle towel were designated as national treasures in 1930, and it was a well-known example of masterpiece architecture. It burnt down, however, in 1945 during WWII. The palace is restored from 2009 and the first section of the palace (the entrance hall and the main hall) opened to the public on May 29, 2013, Completion of the entire palace is planned for 2018.
-KINSHACHI: Shachi is an imaginary animal. It is said that Shachi is able to summon water to prevent fire. It is on the top of the NAGOYA CASTLE and shows the power and money the TOKUGAWA FAMILY had.
-STONE WALL: TOKUGAWA IEYASU ordered 20 Daimyo lords to build the stone wall. The Daimyo lords distinguished the stones of their property and left the carved seals on the stones. That’s why you can see various carved seals on the STONE WALL.

☆ATSUTA JINGU☆
History: Atsuta Jingu was originally founded about 1900 years ago, when the sacred sword Kusanagi-no-tsurugi, one of the Imperial symbols, was enshrined. Because Atsuta Jingu is highly respected by people, it ranks second next to the Great Shrine of Ise.
Access: take the subway Meijo Line to Jingu-Nishi Station. (time: 17 min)
Things to see:
-NOBUNAGA-BEI WALL: Atsuta Jingu is where Oda Nobunaga prayed for victory during the Battle of Okehazama. After his victory, he donated a high-roofed mud wall, called the Nobunaga-Bei, to the shrine.
-BUNKA-DEN (TREASURE EXHIBITION HALL)
The Bunka-den treasure storehouse museum is also known as the Atsuta Jingu Museum. The Bunka-den is a modern ferro-concrete building constructed in 1966. It has over 4,000 pieces in store of which a small number are on revolving display, changed every month.

☆INUYAMA CASTLE (NATIONAL TREASURE)☆
One of four national treasure castles in Japan, located on the south side of the KISO River.
History: INUYAMA CASTLE was constructed by NOBUYASU ODA, uncle of NOBUNAGA ODA, in 1537. It was at the very border of OWARI (present AICHI pref.) and MINO (present GIFU pref.). It is also a very important base in wartime, so that its owner was changed many times by every war.
In the battle of KOMAKI/NAGAKUTE, TOYOTOMI HIDEYOSHI was based at this castle with 120,000 soldiers, and fought the only battle against TOKUKGAWA IEYASU in his lifetime.
In the EDO ERA (1603-1868), the chief retainer of OWARI NARUSE MASANARI owned this castle.
In the MEIJI revolution in 1868, AICHI prefecture retook the castle from the NARUSE FAMILY.
But in the NOUBI earthquake in 1891, INUYAMA CASTLE was half destroyed and the NARUSE FAMILY regained it with the condition of restoring the castle. After that, the castle has been the only privately owned in Japan until the NARUSES transferred its property right to a judicial foundation in 2004.
Access: take the subway Meijo Line to HEIANDORI STATION and transfer to the subway Kami-Lida Line. Take the subway to INUYAMA STATION. (time: 35 min)
I will do my best to show you generous hospitality and support your trip in NAGOYA, JAPAN.
