Lovely luxury accommodation, full of character, warm and welcoming. Escape to this romantic retreat, curl up in front of the wood-burning stove, sip wine or soak in the deep copper tub under twinkling lights in the beautiful bathroom. Relax and enjoy...
Full of character, with exposed beams and lime-washed walls, the Hayloft is a warm and romantic retreat with a wood-burning stove and a beautiful bathroom. You will love the warm earthy interiors, the inviting box bed and organic wool mattresses. A lot of attention to detail and everything thought of! Guests are welcomed with a hamper of local Lincolnshire and organic goodies including Lincolnshire plum bread, locally-made wine, vegetables straight from the garden (or from local farm shops), freshly baked bread, plus other local produce … including, of course, Lincolnshire sausages! The Hayloft is a super space for two, snuggled together in the cosy bedroom - the organic wool mattresses are lovely and ensure a peaceful sleep! But there is an inviting snug in the living area called a 'Box Bed' - basically a hole in the wall! A daytime snug or an extra sleeping space for two more. Everyone's favourite and not just for kids! Not only will you love the accommodation and all the extra treats, but you will love Lincolnshire too! There are many local attractions, restaurants and of course the great outdoors! From cycling, walking and golfing there’s plenty for everyone. You can relax and enjoy a luxury escape in this award-winning accommodation, but you can also pick up a new country cooking or craft skills. From baking bread to basket making, the Manor House Stables offers a good selection of day courses (bookable in advance) There is also a brand new little local history museum. The museum has started its life with an exhibition of the Great War, with information on the local lads who went to war 100 years ago and never returned. There are many other interesting pieces of Great War memorabilia, even a poppy from the Tower of London!
Guest access
The Hayloft is basically just that - an old hayloft! Access is via an external stone staircase and, once through the door, it's all yours! Luxury bathroom, large open-plan beamed kitchen and living area, and through to a beautiful bedroom with ensuite. The Hayloft has its own small private garden solely for Hayloft guests with a picnic table, reclining chairs, a basket swing, a bird-feeding table, and a BBQ set, making it a lovely 'room' to relax in. Other things you can do on-site include learning a new country cooking or craft skills visiting the new little museum (see website for more details).

Lo spazio
Our historic 18th century stables were restored 10 years ago using eco-friendly natural materials and traditional methods. The Hayloft is part of this restored stables and this part of it was where they stored hay for the horses which lived in the stables below. It may have been used as a sleeping space by the stable boys and shepherds who worked on the land owned by the wealthy farmer and his family living in the Manor House.

If you're interested in knowing more about how we restored our stables using a special combination of eco-friendly materials and traditional methods please ask us for more details. Our aim was to let the building 'breathe' as old buildings should, but as a result we also created an environment which is good for people (eg using solvent-free paints, natural materials and earth-friendly cleaning materials) and for the environment.
Other things you can do on-site include learning a new country cooking or craft skills and visiting the small WW2 homefront exhibition.

Accesso per gli ospiti
Guests have the entire Hayloft to themselves. It covers the whole length of the first floor of the stables and has a small private garden at the bottom of the external stone staircase. A fence seperates the Hayloft and Bothy gardens. Parking is just in front of the stables in a private and safe place. The Hayloft is above the Bothy on the first floor and when both accommodations are rented out together a set of internal doors (which are normally locked) can be used to combine the two apartments.
Other places guests can access on-site include the course room where they can learn a new country cooking or craft skills or they can visit the small WW2 homefront exhibition downstairs in the stables..

Martin, Lincolnshire, Regno Unito

The Manor House Stables is situated at the edge of village of Martin heading down towards the next village, Timberland. We have a primary school, village hall, and pub. The pub is good for food and it's great as you can walk there in about 7 minutes! Martin's quite a quiet place and if you're used to living in a city you will notice some wonderful differences here including the peace, abundant wildlife and dark starry skies. You'll also notice you don't need to lock your house or cars all the time and most people speak to you as you meet them on the street! You can happily walk to Timberland or set out in several directions by foot to get a feel of the area, watch barn owls or stars, or enjoy the peace. And there's a really good pub/restaurant in Timberland too (about 25 minutes' walk) if you feel like refreshments before your walk back! If you drive 4 miles down the road towards Woodhall Spa you’ll get to the Water Rail Way – a mainly traffic-free route from Lincoln to Boston. If you’ve got your bicycles it’s a great way to go, if you’ve got walking boots you may make it as far as Bardney, but that’s great too. And there’s some very special artwork along the way!

I hope you like our accommodation. My aim is to make both of our accommodations - the Hayloft and the Bothy - to be 'homes from home' for you. So many wonderful comments in the reviews people leave say that they love the attention to detail in the rooms and that is what I enjoy doing - I think I should have been an interior designer! Well, actually I was a Biologist for most of my life, did Biology at Uni and was a self employed Environmental consultant for 20 years. But we had an old redundant stable block that needed a lot of love and attention, so I spent what seems like forever researching the correct way of restoring an old building and ended up with a unique combination of old methods and new breathable materials. When searching for the right way to do the interiors I added all sorts of special things like wooden and copper baths, invested in things like organic Welsh wool mattresses, and searched until I found cabinets, wardrobes, chests of drawers etc which were actually made in Britain - really good strong wood furniture which will last a lifetime. And then I added the personal touches... but you'll have to discover those when you come and stay! I have stayed in self-catering accommodation all my travelling life and I know that having a lovely clean comfortable cottage is very important, but so also is good communication with the people who are there to look after you. So my aim is to provide a lovely place to for you to stay, give you plenty of ideas of what to do while you're here and let you know where I am if you need any help at all. Then I let you get on with your holiday! I hope you’ll enjoy it!
