Due to the extra cleaning for Covid19 we will not make any exceptions to these times regardless of your arrival.

We use a key-less locking system that is automated to unlock at 4:00 pm and will re-lock at 10:00am. A key-less code will be provided for your use during your stay.

Due to Covid19 we are no longer supplying beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels in the summer or sleds and saucers for the winter. Please be sure that you bring these items with you and take them home as we cannot properly clean them.

Due to Covid19 we are no longer providing condiments such as catsup & mustard, butter, oils and snacks. Please pack out everything you came with or put into outside bear proof trash bin.

We have an older built in DVD player in the television. This is NOT BluRay compatible.

The area for your outside use is to the right (South) of the garage or directly behind it. DO NOT use the area behind or in front of the main house.

This loft sleeps two adults comfortably and with the stairs, not safe for children.

Under NO circumstances will we allow 3 persons in this loft.

We are required by Placer County to collect a 10% room lodging tax (TOT). It will be collected through the Airbnb platform in a separate request on the date of your arrival.

This is a private upstairs loft built over a detached and functioning 2 car garage which is used by homeowners. We ask that you do not block either of these doors and use the single plowed space to the right of our driveway.

Our property provides parking for one vehicle only. No boats, no trailers or no cars that leak oil!!

This loft has a bathroom with sink, shower, towels, shampoo & conditioner, bath gel and a hair dryer.

This loft has a a tiny bachelors kitchen with an attached eating counter and bar stools. It has a mini fridge which holds a small amount of food and canned drinks. It has a very tiny freezer which has space for ice trays. It has a small microwave, apartment sized stove/oven, a bar sized sink with disposal, toaster, K-cup coffee maker and a tea pot. Basic pots/pans and cooking utensils.

Although we try to keep the the coming and going to a minimum, we do enter and exit our garage which may be heard from the loft and unfortunately we can’t do anything about it.

During snow storms you will hear the sound of the plows clearing the driveway. We have no control over when this happens or what time the roads will be cleared and safe for driving.

We leave you a snow shovel on the entry deck and ask that make sure to return it to that spot after shoveling your walk or car. If left in the snow it gets buried until spring or worse, destroyed by the snow blower. We charge $50 for a lost or broken shovel.

We use goose down blankets and pillows in case your sensitive or allergic and recommend that you bring along a blanket and pillows.

This space is not child proofed and has the potential for injury due to the steep staircase.

NO PETS allowed in or on our property. Homeowner is highly allergic to them.

If you arrive with a pet you will be asked to leave and reservation will be canceled immediately with the assistance of Airbnb and without any refunds. You will forfeit your reservation and be responsible for any necessary carpet cleaning, dry cleaning costs and any damage made by your pet.

This is a NO SMOKING property, balcony or backyard. This is heavily forested area and prone to fires. If you must smoke than please take a walk off the property on the paved road. Leave NO BUTTS behind.

Open fires are prohibited and against the law.

You have the entire detached apartment with private entry, balcony, private garden & patio with a Weber gas BBQ & seating along with your own single parking space for one car. Outdoor living/BBQ are set up in late spring until late September and are not available during winter months. Please use caution with the propane tank and be sure you turn it off on the grill and also turn the knob on the tank to the closed position.

You may use our common horse shoe pit area on south side of garage, but please respect the owner's private yards directly behind and in front of the main house, patios, BBQ and spa area. They are not included in this rental.

During the winter months your outside space is directly behind the garage and on the south (facing garage front on the right side). There is no BBQ and these areas are not kept shoveled in the winter.

Although there is a tiny kitchenette, the size and space limitations might prevent planned meal preparations so please be mindful when planning your trip. We do ask for your consideration that you clean it to the standard you found it.

Please use only the single parking space on the right of driveway. Do not park in front of garage or in front of the bear proof garbage bin as it will prevent the trash company from picking up the trash and this will impact the owners use of the bin.

In the winter during snow storms the roads are plowed by the county and the plow service follows to clear the driveway. They are only in action if it has 6" or more new snow. There is no set time these services take place so patience is a must unless you wish shovel yourself out. Please return shovel after use or it will replaced and charged to your account through Airbnb.

The county plows the street at no particular time... we cannot promise access to connecting roads during snow storms. We are about 200’ in elevation higher than the main highway, so we strongly suggest that you have a 4x4 vehicle during the winter, otherwise carry tire chains and be prepared to use them.

The path from the driveway to the entrance may or may not be shoveled depending on snow fall so help yourself with the shovel hanging on the post by the front door of the loft.

We don't accept Saturday arrivals or departures as it blocks the opportunity for desirable weekend stays and if this is booked automatically it will be changed or cancelled.

We only accept reservations from guest with stellar reviews.

During peak season holidays that fall mid week we require a Monday thru Friday reservation, leaving Friday thru Monday open as another option.

Cleaning fee is $75.00 and this is for the basic bedding, towels and vacuuming. We keep the cleaning supplies under the kitchen sink cabinet and ask that you make an effort to clean what you’ve used in the kitchen and return it to its place. If you prefer to pay an additional cleaning charge to take care of everything than that will be added onto your reservation after departure for an additional fee to be determined by the house cleaner. We prefer a cooperative cleaning effort.

We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and well appointed living space that we have thoughtfully equipped for your pleasure.

Please park in your single space to the right as you pull into our driveway. Please do not park in front of the garage as we enter and exit from it.

Placer County requires us to collect a 10% Transient Occupancy Tax from you directly upon arrival. This amount is based on your total reservation cost. Due to Covid we are no longer leaving an envelope and will collect this money through the Airbnb site during your stay.

We supply a modest amount of coffee, tea, sugars, honey, condiments and cold drinks. This is a pay it forward offering, meaning, you arrive to snacks and drinks and you replenish with like items for the next person. This is how we roll at the Squirrel's nest.

Paper towels, toilet paper, shampoo/conditioner, soap are provided.

Please be considerate and return all game pieces to the proper box and DVD’s to the proper jacket and not in the machine.

This is a quiet forested residential neighborhood area close to back country, which is great for cross country skiing, snow shoeing, hiking and mountain biking. Lake access within a mile off of Lardin. We are roughly 10 miles to Northstar, Homewood, Alpine Meadow's and Squaw Valley ski resorts. We are a 1/4 mile from the lake access and 1 mile from shopping and dining. Our location is about 200 feet above the highway, so a 4x4 vehicle during the winter is a must, We are 3 miles away from the Tahoe City X Cross Country Center. We have so much to offer during all four seasons and are happy to help you discover the thrill of Tahoe.

We are Russ & Genie, a married couple living and playing at Lake Tahoe to the left of our charming loft which has it's own private entry over our two car garage. We are an avid ski family that loves both downhill and cross country skiing with knowledge of the local ski resorts and back country trials, hiking trails, mountain bike trails and the best restaurants to dine. We have a beautifully landscaped yard with grass lawns in front and back, edged with perennial flower beds which is our joy. A two person settee on your own private balcony, perfect for coffee, & dining. Please respect our privacy and stay off the patio behind the main house and the grass areas in front of and behind the main home. Please do enjoy your secret garden and the horseshoe pit along the side of the loft/garage. During the summer months you will enjoy your own private gas BBQ, patio & furniture among a beautifully landscaped secret garden. We enjoy entertaining our friends and family at our home on a quiet wholesome basis. We are semi retired and spend time away from Tahoe. We do season rentals in our main home so please do not bother the occupants with questions. We are a text message away if you have questions. If an emergency should arise that please call 911. My husband is a well established real estate broker here at Lake Tahoe and has been a full time resident for over 40 years. If you have ever thought about buying a Tahoe getaway, then talk to us. We have no pets and are highly allergic. Due to the Covid19 cleaning requirements we have changed our check in time to 4:00 pm and departure time to 10:00 am. Please, during this pandemic we will NOT under any circumstances allow for any early check ins or late check outs. Please plan accordingly.

This is a separate apartment, so you have your own private space with a key code entry that will be provided to you prior to arrival. It’s very simple to use.

Due to Covid19 our check on time has changed to 4:00 pm and the automatic keyless entry lock will release itself for your entry. We are not accommodating any early check ins due to the strict Covid19 cleaning protocol and make no alterations to our automatically set locking system. Check out time is now 10:00 am to facilitate the amount of time needed before the cleaning staff can safely enter the property for cleaning. Again, this is an automatic locking system set to over ride the combination given to you for your stay. You will find a keychain with your 4 digit combi on the kitchen counter.

A private lock box code for our house cleaner and repair person in the event of an emergency. Otherwise no one will have your code.

We live in the main home, keep quiet and to ourselves when we are not traveling. This is a self check in/out vacation rental.

We are happy to give you recommendations and answer any questions you may have. Feel free to contact us through the site or use the telephone number provided on the counter of loft to text any questions for the quickest response. You’ll only need to call us in the event of en emergency as we are attentive to our messages.

We enjoy making new travel friends and look forward to meeting you when we are not traveling. When we are traveling we arrange for friends and family to stay in the main house. Please do not knock on the door or enter their private space. Social distancing is a must.
