The road is open. Parking in the winter is 150 feet below. The location is ideal for getting off the grid and enjoy private trails for hiking, biking, xc ski and snowshoe.
It has gorgeous views and seclusion; it sits on about 9 acres at 9,000 ft. It overlooks the valley below and the Medicine Bow mountains to the east.

Lo spazio
The cabin is very clean and cute, recently updated with all new beds and decor making it feel very homey and comfortable. It has lots of windows to enjoy the gorgeous views, as well as a viewing deck on the back patio. The kitchen is ample and well equipped.
There are three rooms in total--Bedroom, Main Room, Kitchen. The beds in the far room are bunk beds--one double with a single over the top. The main room offers two single beds stacked for extra seating when not in use. Unstacked they can be used as either a king bed or two twins.
The wood burning stove is the main heat source along with an electric plug in heater, which is ample for the cabin. We supply the wood for the indoor wood stove.
Our cabin is a dry cabin--although there isn't running water, we do supply potable water.
The bathroom listed is a compost potty house, which is adjacent to the cabin.
The shower-house is a short distance from the cabin and is shared with other cabins.

Our directions here are best to use as other methods aren't reliable.

Accesso per gli ospiti
The road up to the cabin is best accessed with high clearance vehicles, however most vehicles do fine. Winter access is approximately 150 yards on a packed trail once the road is closed.
The cabin sits overlooking the valley below and the Medicine Bow mountains to the east. Routt National is 3/10's of a mile and makes for a fun hike up to Rainbow Lakes. The Elk Run Trail is a great hiking trail in the summer and a packed trail in the winter for xc ski and snowshoe.
From about May until about the first week of July the 'Open A Diamond Ditch' runs behind the cabin which creates your own private waterfall. Check out our trail dubbed "Narnia" which is marked with Monarch Butterflies and takes you to where two waterfalls merge on the Roaring Ditch running the same time as the Open A Diamond Ditch May until mid July.
Routt National Forest and the Zirkel Wilderness is just up the road. If you are in to fishing there are plenty of streams and the cabin is a short drive to Delaney Butte Lakes. In the Summer there are great hikes one of which is to Rainbow Lake the largest lake in the Zirkels. The trailhead for Rainbow Lake is a short distance from the cabin. There is a plethora of trails and fishing opportunities all a short distance from the cabin.
We offer sledding, skiing and snowshoeing in the winter on packed trails.
In late summer the drive over Buffalo Pass to Steamboat Springs is beautiful.
Someone will meet you upon your arrival to guide you to the cabin, as it can be difficult to find in the dark.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
There isn't a well. Water is however provided both for drinking and washing. The kitchen sink is plumbed for grey water.
The compost potty is a short distance away, in a separate but close by building. Thank-you for picking up after your furry friend.
Before checkin and after checkout separate parking is provided for recreational use.

You step out your door and you are "there". You will love the remoteness and the views. Wildlife abound. Moose, elk, deer, pronghorn, bear, fox, marmot, raccoon, squirrel and many species of bird from the hummingbirds of summer to the rosy finches of winter.
Check for wildlife before letting your dog outside. Thank-you for respecting the creatures here.
