Cruise Maui in your own SUV fully equipped for up to 4 ppl to camp all over the island. I've thought of everything you could want while exploring Maui and included it in my Nissan Xterra (automatic trans): -Tent/all your sleeping gear. -Stove/cooking gear. -Cooler/chairs/hammock/towels. -Eco-reef friendly sunscreen/shampoo/body wash/bug spray. True adventure seekers wanted!! Don't anchor yourself to a resort and miss out on this beautiful island.

Lo spazio
I also own one of the best adventure companies on Maui and after 5 year of exploring this island I have an endless amount of suggestions for waterfalls, beaches, camping spots and things you just shouldn't miss while on Maui.

Accesso per gli ospiti
The entire island... This is a vehicle with camping gear so respect the island and only camp in designated camping spots with permits for county or state areas.

Altre cose da tenere a mente
You must have your own car insurance and a current drivers license. Insurance can be purchased through me for $20/night or you can purchase coverage at rental cover . com

You can pick up the Nissan Xterra anytime after 3pm from my home in Paia. Transportation options from the airport are uber/taxi/speedi shuttle. Your vehicle will be clean, stocked up and full of gas. You just need to return it full and I'll take care of the rest.
There is no freedom camping in Hawaii. Illegal camping puts you at risk of a fine and/or confiscation of your camping gear so please respect the laws and camp at designated spots.
Camping spots include:
•Kipahulu Campground (part of the National Park)
Located on the back side of Haleakala Volcano within walking distance to the famous Seven Sacred Pools, this campground is perfect for people who want to explore nearby waterfalls, bamboo forests and beaches. $30 entrance fee into Haleakala National Park per vehicle (or FREE with receipt from the summit of Haleakala Volcano if within 3 days). NO PERMIT REQUIRED

•Olowalu Campground
Situated directly on the ocean by the best snorkeling and kayaking destination in West Maui, with hot showers, drinking water, sink, restrooms, picnic tables. Great views of the West Maui Mountains and short drive (or walk) to a few restaurants or fruit stand. This campground is located in the most dry area of the island and priced at $25- $30 PP. They also have a kayak rental business right there in the camp and is an amazing experience some of the best whale watching, snorkeling, and kayaking Maui has to offer *MAKE RESERVATIONS WELL IN ADVANCE*

•Hosmer Grove Campground (part of the National Park)
Located just below the 7,000 foot elevation level (bring warm clothes) on the slopes of Haleakala Volcano with picnic tables, BBQ grills, toilets, drinking water. * YOU DONT NEED PERMITS or RESERVATIONS* Just pay the park entrance.

• Camp Keanae
Located along the Hana Hwy at the halfway point this YMCA location offers tent or car camping has flushable toilets and hot showers. This is not fancy but the location is beautiful and if you want to break up your drive to Hana this is the spot. *ADVANCED BOOKING ONLINE REQUIRED*.

•Wai’anapanapa State Park Campground
Also along the Road to Hana, this campsite is located by a gorgeous black sand beach, lava tube, natural freshwater caves, sea arches, a blowhole, hiking trail and more. *MAKE RESERVATIONS ONLINE IN ADVANCE*.

•Papalaua Wayside Park
This laid-back beach is a long sliver of sand with amazing snorkeling spots. *PERMITS ARE REQUIRED* and obtained only in person during business hours Mon-fri at one of the Parks and Recreation Departments in either Lahaina or Wailuku.
Most of all respect the locals and the island. Do not leave any trash, including cigarette butts! Leave it cleaner than you found it. Also when exploring along the road to hana make sure you are parked completely off the road legally as you will get ticketed if there are 'no parking' signs or your tires touch the divided line for the shoulder and the roadway.

The good, bad, ugly of your adventure vehicle:

She is NOT a 4x4 vehicle so use your common sense when picking a spot to park, which roads you want to explore and paths you go down. If you think it’s too steep, rocky, wet or dangerous, it probably is! You can park off the road on sand or rocks, just make sure it’s not loose sand or too rocky because you will get stuck!

Flat tires, getting stuck in the sand are your responsibility. If in doubt don’t park it. If you decide to make the trek up to Haleakala please use the low gear coming down the hill otherwise you will literally burn the brakes and maybe more.

Gas is your responsibility, return on full.

Weather: Make sure you check the weather where you are camping. Maui has a lot of wind and rain. Pay attention to flash flood warnings!

Most of all enjoy, explore, smile, be a courteous driver who shares aloha :) Make sure you book a snorkeling excursion with Maui Snorkel Charters. This is hands down the best way to whale watch and snorkel in one. You get access to places the big boats can't go as you zip along in your incredible zodiac to the best snorkel locations on Maui, only stopping to watch majestic whales and maybe even a pod of dolphins. Book this ASAP and thank me later.

I'm an adventure seeker who loves to share Maui with visitors. If I'm not leading tours to Hana or jumping off waterfalls you will either find me at my favorite beach or happy hr :) Pick my brain for suggestions or book one the Xterras or Escape Hybrid SUVs and I'll share some of my favorite spots you'd never find on your own.
