Sitting directly on the Ise-ji route of the ancient Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trail, our home is a rural and quiet place to take in traditional Japanese culture and architecture amongst our expansive gardens and local tea fields.

In addition to the space, we also offer bicycles and can arrange a taxi to/from the station if needed.

Update July 2021

We have recently renovated the guest quarters!

Renovations include:
- New shower room and sink
- High-speed fiberoptic internet (wi-fi)
- Sensor lighting for guestroom hallways
- Garden lighting
- Walk-in closet for clothing and suitcases

With 400 sq. meters of floor space, our house was originally built for a local merchant family. We have lived on this road for generations, and are now opening up the house to be enjoyed by visitors to Japan, or simply people who want to get out of the cities and experience countryside life.

With ornate Japanese gardens in front and back, the original traditional home still stands in the center. Modern wings have been added on over the years, though keeping with traditional design, and it is immaculately kept and well-built.

The primary guest room sits alongside the koi-stocked pond, and can comfortably sleep four adults (five possible with a squeeze). If you would like to separate your group or have more space, you can use additional tatami rooms outside of the main guest room.

Heating and air-conditioning are electric, and discreetly installed throughout the complex. The exceptions are the tatami rooms in the traditional house (for aesthetic reasons), but the sleeping and social rooms are all equipped.

Kitchen: Equipped with a large refrigerator, IH stove, cooking implements, toaster oven, microwave, and other amenities.

We also have various other gas and electric tabletop cooking tools for making nabe, takoyaki, yakiniku, etc. The large charcoal grills are outside in the dedicated BBQ space which also has a roof.

Dove ti troverai

Odai, Prefettura di Mie, Giappone

If you're looking for a place with bustling bars and restaurants, this isn't it!

The nice part of rural Japan is that it's relatively untouched by foreign tourism, so you can have an authentic countryside experience. However, that also means that it's a quiet rural neighborhood. We don't have many shops or restaurants, but there's a handful within a kilometer (and they're also friendly places with good food). Above all our area is a place to take in nature, see the stars at night, and be free to go at your own pace, so please keep this in mind when booking.

We're situated in the mountains about a 20~30 minute drive from either Ise or Matsusaka. By train Matsusaka will take about 30 minutes and Ise about 40 depending on the time of day. Walking from the train station is about 1.5km, but we can arrange a taxi for you (about 700 yen) if you give us your arrival and departure times.

You'll find a supermarket about 1.2km away, as well as a convenience store a mere 20 meters away.

Durante il tuo soggiorno

We primarily live in Tokyo so we aren't in town all the time, but when we are we stay with our family who runs a tea farm down the street. For the most part you'll have the house to yourself, though sometimes my mother uses the tatami rooms for tea ceremony, ikebana classes, and other various events. Also, the property requires a fair bit of maintenance, so we occasionally have gardeners or other workers around.
