Cosa farete

This fascinating experience begins at one of our Apiaries, the Morgan Hemlock Home on Air BnB, or our Riverside Apiary. There will be plenty of liquid refreshments served throughout the experience. We will discuss the importance of Honeybees and Native bees and Monarch Butterflies and what you can do at home to help provide food and habitat for all pollinators. This would be done by touring our Pollinator gardens on premise and through discussion of what native species to plant, and our various projects for bee and butterfly rescues and Morgan Monarch release program.
You will then be outfitted with Bee jacket, Gloves, and veil for safety of you and the Bees. We then proceed to the apiary located within a short walk and examine an active colony of Honeybees by letting the guest use the smoker, hive tool, and hold the frames of bees while we search for the elusive Queen, and witness young brood emerge! You will see how bees collect and store nectar and pollen and begin the process of creating honey. We will discuss the importance of Native pollinators like Mason and leaf cutter bees. All guest will go home with a free packet of Wildflower seeds to begin their own pollinator habitat! Agenda may be adjusted due to weather conditions and based on your personal preference. Proceeds from this adventure help us fund rescues, create habit and buy seeds and provide public education.

Lori and I fell in Love with Honeybees over 15 years ago. We have over 12 colonies in our apiaries. We prefer the term, Bee Advocate over Beekeepers, and have given several talks on Bees and Monarch Butterfly’s to Schools, Scouts, Garden Clubs and Chamber of Commerces. Morgans Natural Buzz Honey is our Facebook page where we promote conservation and protection of Honeybees, Monarch butterfly’s, and all pollinators.
I’ve been on radio, TV, and guest Podcast concerning Honeybee rescues we have conducted. Most notably, we rescued two bee colonies in Cincinnati and donated them to the Cincinnati Zoo where they now reside. In May of 2019 we removed a large swarm of bees from the Reds game at Great American Ballpark. The National attention raised Bee awareness to millions Nationwide. “All we are saying, is give bees a Chance!”

Everything was wonderful. Dirk had plenty of knowledge and passion about what he was talking about. If you do this excursion spring for the lunch. Lori put out an amazing spread of many different types of food infused with honey.

Dirk and Lori were wonderful hosts. We had a fantastic day learning all about honeybees and interacting with them. It was specially exciting to see the queen bee. We got to see the monarch butterflies laying eggs on milkweed plants. And last but not least the snacks and spreads made with their honey were fantastic. Thanks for making our day great!

Wow, such a great experience! I was interested in learning more about endangered butterfly and bee populations. This program gets down and dirty to educate and empower participants. We reviewed the life cycle of butterflies and bees. We visited habitats and hives. We were provided with seeds to do our own little part in delaying the extinction of these important insects. And proceeds from the experience will contribute to Dirk Morgan’s efforts to establish a complete, supportive habitat along the Little Miami River corridor!

This experience was amazing. My Husband and I were able to learn much more than we could have on own own, enjoy delicious food, great hospitality from our hosts, and hear so many stories of their everyday lives dealing with Bees and Monarch Butterfly’s. This is an experience that everyone around should try!! We will be telling all of our friends and family about this wonderful day!

I happened upon this adventure trying to find an activity to break up the drive from TN to MI. I'm so glad I did. This was better than I expected. I learned so much about our pollinators and the stages of their life ans how to protect them! I was expecting to learn mostly about bees, but to my pleasant surprise we covered butterflies, too! I learned how to check milkweed for butterfly eggs and what to do to keep them from predators. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and would love to come back to stay! Hoosier the dog was a wonderful tour partner, as well. Dirk and his wife, Mrs. Morgan, have a wonderful home and were so welcoming. I felt very comfortable on my solo adventure! I also had a wonderful honey themed homemade lunch at the end. It was well deserved after a hot morning of bee and butterfly education. It was absolutely wonderful. Also, even after doing this once I want to go again to learn even more. This is not a one and done kind of adventire. You could really do this many times and still be entertained.

Wow! I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Dirk and Lori. After a canoe ride at Morgan’s Campground (a separate adventure, but I highly recommend that as well), my family and I made our way to Dirk and Lori’s for a wonderful honey-themed lunch followed by a very informative discussion/presentation on honeybees! Dirk also enabled us to get right up next to the hive and experience some real beekeeping for ourselves. I also want to emphasize the fact that he really knew his bee facts! We learned and saw so much. At the end, we also got to try their delicious honey. All of this against a gorgeous backdrop in Morrow, Ohio! (P.S. Don’t forget to wear pants for this one! They have suits for your upper body, but pants will keep you extra covered. No one in our crew came even close to being stung, but better safe than sorry :)) Definitely check this out with your family! Highly recommended!
