We will pick you up at your Colima or Comala accommodation at 9:30 am. From there we will take you on a 50 minute scenic drive passing through the lush jungles of Colima and the little villages in the hills with beautiful volcano views and interesting points along the way. After arriving at the old village of La Yerbabuena, we will stretch our legs and meet local coffee producer, Jose Ramon. We will see how coffee is processed from narvesting the tree, open air drying and the roasting of the beans on a open fire. We will of course indulge in a fresh coffee drink of your choice. After coffee we will go on a short hike to "El Guardian", a huge fig tree that is the star of a unique indigenous legend. We will wander through avocado fields, watching for songbirds and experiece breath-taking, close up views of the active Colima volcano. After the hike we head down the hill to the beautiful Laguna La Maria, a spring fed crater lake. Here we will have a tasty picnic lunch prepared for us by our favorite local restaurant. After lunch we will explore some natural tunnels, relax in the cool of the forest and we can even go for a swim. We will head off at about 3:30pm and return you to your
Il tuo host
Steve and Steph Mellross are a Canadian couple who moved to Colima 5 years ago. We fell in love with the amazing natural habitats of the Pacific Coast, the highlands and the little villages across the state. We are avid hikers, kayakers and beach goers and have spent over a year guiding groups for a local charity. We know the communities and their people very well and love showing people all of the “off the beaten path” places that we know and love. Steph is a teacher by profession, Steve runs a small business in Canada and we make the Colima area our full time home. We speak Spanish as well.

Dove ti troverai
La Yerbabuena is a small village where local coffee producers make their living and process coffee in small batches, roasting on an open fire. We will then go on a hike to see a 400 year old tree with the legend of protecting the villages so close to the volcano. We then go to a crater lake to have lunch prepared by our favorite local village restaurant, more guided hiking in the area and swimming in the lake.
