Programma

Day 1
We’ll explore the beautiful bodies of water, and how their stories are at the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Starting in Seattle, we'll leave the bustle of the city behind on a morning ferry crossing of the fathomless Puget Sound, keeping fingers crossed and eyes peeled for whales.

We’ll tell the story of the remarkable Elwha river restoration, as we make our way deeper into the Olympic Peninsula to sparkling Lake Crescent. After a family style picnic lunch near the lake, we’ll get our first full immersion in lush forests and bubbling streams on our hike to tumbling, fern-laden Marymere Falls. After listening to the crashing water echo through the towering trees we’ll head for the coast and rugged Ruby Beach. Climb haystacks, explore tide pools, or just sit back and contemplate the vastness of the Pacific as waves crash onto the shore.

From here it’s just a short drive to our accommodation for the next two nights: Kalaloch Lodge. We'll take advantage of our beach front location for a campfire, beer coolers, and enjoy some time to wander and unwind. We’ll cook dinner for you tonight as we gather to share our own stories to the quiet song of the ocean.
Other things to note
We'll reach out to you before the tour to make sure you're all set and answer any questions you may have.

Day 2
Our second day is a true highlight. We delve deep into the Hoh Rain Forest to discover One Square Inch of Silence, likely the quietest place in North America. This is a powerful re-orientation to our own roots in the natural world, how we moved through it, and how we understood our place in it. By engaging the world through sound and taking time to truly listen, we give the forest a whole new life and maybe even find some deeper truths that extend beyond the edge of the trees. Once you dive into the intricate beauty of the ecosystem, and the stories it tells, you'll never see the forest quite the same.

Our relaxed pace allows us to move a few miles into the park, soaking in the subtle details of the place, the story it tells us, learn a little about the language of the birds, and even step into an ancient time when our presence in the forest was guided by a need to hear but not be heard. There is something powerful about the connections that arise in the quiet on this insightful, wistful, and fascinating journey.

We'll return to camp for plenty of laughs and stories over dinner at the nearby lodge.
Other things to note
We'll be hiking today, and choosing the distance and timing that's right for our particular group, on our particular day. We're happy to accommodate a wide range of desires and ability levels.

Day 3
We'll enjoy a relaxed morning exploring the beach and taking in the ocean soundscape before we launch into our final day of adventure. After breakfast we’ll say goodbye to our camp and head inland once more. There are a few hidden gems we’ll stop to visit before heading to our main attraction for the day; Hurricane Ridge. We’ll climb up away from the sea, up proud of the towering rain forest canopy to reach the gusting winds of the alpine.

After a filling lunch we’ll pack up some water and delve into this unique landscape. The trees here huddle close together to brace against winter storms and wind-swept branches indicate the direction of shelter. We take in the difference in sounds between the rain forest and this alpine ridge, while we let ourselves expand into the vastness of the valleys, rivers, and forests dropping away below us to the coast. We'll witness the snow-capped Olympic Mountains jagged in the distance, and admire the tiny story of lichen written in the rocks at our feet.

When we’re tired, we'll find our way back down the mountain and onto a ferry, and our last crossing together, as we return to the shining Emerald City of Seattle.
Other things to note
Saying goodbye is always a little sad, and it's amazing how quickly the bonds between travelers grows. We'll send you off with a little something and make sure everyone who wants to stay in touch, can.

This was a truly amazing experience! Every detail was taken care of which meant all of our time could be focused on enjoying the beauty of nature, silence, and the group. The accommodations at the campsite exceed my expectations. Sean is an amazing guide, he knows what he’s doing and loves it. Each day was a beautiful adventure. It’s amazing what some intentional time in silence and in nature can do. I would strongly recommend this experience.

This adventure was just phenomenal. Exploring the wilderness in the Olympic National Park was truly unforgettable. The time spent in the silence of the Hoh rainforest was so impactful for me. I left the experience with a new perspective of how important it is for us to preserve the last of our earth's naturally quiet places. Every aspect of the trip itself was well thought out and taken care of. The transportation was in a very nice and large air conditioned van. The food was plentiful; breakfast and fresh coffee every morning, tons of snacks, a delicious homemade ‘hobo’ dinner we all made ourselves over the campfire, and a lovely dinner one night at a nearby restaurant overlooking the ocean. The campsite was tranquil and the self sustaining trailer accommodations were perfectly cozy. Our guide, Sean, was wonderful. He was patient, engaging, thoughtful, and so knowledgeable. I personally gained so much from connecting with the natural environment on this adventure and I highly recommend it for anyone who is seeking clarity and peace, away from the constant noise of our daily lives.

This was an amazing experience in the Olympic Nat Forest. Sean goes out of his way to show you the sights. It was great to have someone else do the planning and take care of the necessities. The campsite is in a awesome location and very comfy. The partnership with Matt M is a great bonus for this trip. I learned so much about the benefits of silence and our impact to nature on this dimension. I would highly recommend this trip!
