Programma

Join us to explore the historic streets of Washington's oldest neighborhood! Established fifty years before the Capital, Georgetown began as a gritty port city on the banks of the Potomac River, described by Abigail Adams as a "dirty little hole". Despite its modest start, Georgetown is now home to palatial mansions, elegant cemeteries, stately churches, and a world class University. We'll explore the highlights and secrets of DC's most exclusive neighborhood, while learning about Georgetown's transformation in this rags to riches tale.
Other things to note
Our Georgetown tour does involved some steep hills and uneven sidewalks, so please wear sturdy shoes.

Carolyn, Sam, and Christine of DC Design Tours are three history buff architecture nerds with a passion for story telling!

Carolyn is a former architect and life-long lover of all things brick and mortar. She prefers to talk about buildings than draw them. The District has been her home since 2006, and when not guiding, you can find her counting columns at the National Building Museum (there are 152) and traipsing through Rock Creek National Park.

Sam is an enthusiast for architectural design, history, and talking a mile a minute. Originally from the Bluegrass State, he's a full fledged Washingtonian now.

Christine is a trained architect and longtime DC local. She's worked on projects at the U.S. Capitol, Library of Congress, and other famous Washington landmarks!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Ellery! She was so knowledgeable of the area and had such good energy and humor. We loved it so much that we signed up for another tour with DC Design for today!

I have taken more tours that I can remember. However, Beth has been the best because she only gave you the juicy details you craved to know. I learned more today than in my previous 3 hour tour. I also worked out, which gave the energy to start my day in a good mood. Waking up early is worth it since you can take better pictures without the crowds and the sunlight makes your pics look awesome. Five stars.

I had a great time on this tour. Each stop had a unique story and the whole route is easy on the eyes. While it quite hot outside, she did a good job of trying to keep everyone in the shade as much as possible.

This was a fascinating tour and Carolyn was very knowledgeable. I've been to DC before, but never made it to Georgetown before today. It's a wonderful and charming neighborhood. Next time I'm in DC I'll definitely check out DC Design Tours again.
