Cosa farete

True pleasure, a combination of natural beauty and its gifts

Dive into the Olive Oil & Wine tradition in Split. Visit my family farm, learn about the ancient process to produce olive oil and wine and try the best bites of our gastronomy. It is a true Dalmatian story FROM FARM TO TABLE.

You will be guests at my family property that we own since 1537 located just next to the old fortress of Klis (GoT Meereen City), to see the beautiful nature, olive groves, vineyards and orchards. I will explain to you how much effort and patience you need to make oil and wine produce from olives and grapes. I am pleased to share my knowledge, passion and tradition that extends through my family story.

At farm also you can enjoy in presence of domestic animals as chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs. Collect chicken eggs or feed the rabbits to fell as a real farmer.

Then we go to the tavern where I'll explain how the remains of grapes produce schnapps. You will have the opportunity to see the old tools for farming, old wooden wine barrels, old style fireplace, brick oven and etc.

After that all we need is to enjoy in homemade products such as vine, schnapps, smoked meat, olive oil, cheese and breathtaking views in intimate small group in complete privacy.

Hosting is my passion and thanks to Airbnb I am sharing this passion since 2013. Since April 2017 I started to host experience at my family farm. Thanks to my family, I am passionate about nature and natural products. I learned to appreciate the agriculture and labor of my ancestors, who gave their heart and soul to produce an exceptionally traditional products flavored with love. Under the sun of the Mediterranean and the shelter of the mountain, our soil gives unforgettable flavors and fragrances transformed into olive oil, wine and schnapps. The best way to truly discover the tradition and culture of the Split region as it once was, in an indigenous environment, untouched nature and the beauty of the landscape!

Dove ti troverai

Starting our jurney at meeting point near narrow city center we will take an 20 minute ride to escape city crowds. We will visit a spring of the Jadro River that supplies the city of Split with clean and drinkable water. During hot summer days we can seek for refreshment in knee high water . After that we are visiting my farm that is located on the slopes of the mountain Mosor providing amazing views over valley, fortress Klis and city of Split.

First things first: This is without a doubt the most special and memorable non-aquatic experience you will book through AirBnB when you’re staying in Split. You absolutely *must* book this when you visit. If you don’t, you will be missing out on something really authentic, delicious, special, and FUN. It’s also worth noting that this is an AirBnB exclusive experience. This is not some tour guide company masquerading as something intimate when in reality there will be 40 other people on a bus with you. Whatever Airbnb lists as the number of participants is the number of people that will be there. This entire tour is created and led by Marin. A wonderful conversationalist, extremely easy going, and so accommodating. Right at the start he adjusted our pick up location for us because we were having tech problems with finding the pick up location. Not his fault whatsoever, but he came to us none the less. Because of Corona it was just two of us in the group, but Marin pulled out all of the stops for us. In fact, he is such a people person, he was so excited that we booked the tour because he loves sharing his passion and joy with everyone who comes to visit him, and like everyone else in the tourism industry, he’s seen a large reduction of visitors because of the pandemic. He showed us his family owned farm, orchard, and vineyard. He plucked fruit right from the tree and shared them with us. Apples, pears, figs, blackberries... Such a simple act, and yet there is something so human and profound for those of us coming from “the city,” who don’t get to spend their day working with their own hands and eating food they grow themselves. His homestead is built into the slopes of the mountains outside of Split, so accompanying everything we did was a truly majestic view of the entire region, as well as the famous fortress of Klis. Most of our time was spent in his tavern, where we were absolutely spoiled by a truly gourmet selection of smoked wild boar pancetta, smoked wild boar sausages, fresh and aged goat cheese, cherry tomatoes, special Croatian bread, olive oil, red and white wine, dried figs and candied nuts, and various schnapps and liqueurs. *Everything* was made by him and his family. Even the boar was hunted and smoked by them. This food came after he showed and explained how they make and process all of their goods, and to then to get to enjoy everything after seeing first hand how it was made was truly special. To say it was some of the best bread, cheese, meat, wine, candied nuts, fried figs, and liqueur I’ve ever had is an understatement. Store bought tomatoes are ruined for me now because the tomatoes he serves from his own garden are just incredible. We finished the meal by eating the freshest rosemary omelette I’ve ever had, from eggs that we harvested ourselves minutes before from his chicken coop. The rest of the time was spent just talking about ourselves, the farm, life, whatever, all while enjoying his family made wine and liqueur. Finishing our experience at the river that has provided the drinking water for Split since the times of the ancient Romans was a great way to end the trip. We ended up right outside the processing area where the water springs out of the mountain, and we drank the water straight from the stream. Crystal clear, refreshing, and delicious. He then drove us into the city and dropped us off just minutes from where we were staying. Book this experience now! This is what AirBnB experiences are meant to be like and is everything that someone would want!

Our tour with Martin was a once in a lifetime experience. Even though at the moment traveling is a bit more difficult due to Corona, Martin made us feel super welcome and comfortable and even provided sanitizers throughout our tour. I think you cannot often find a person with so much knowledge about the area, its history and the art and passion of farming, growing and producing unique and delicious food - definitely a must do if you are in the area!

We booked our experience with Marin for July 2020. Although I’ve been visiting Croatia for over 30 years, this experience spoke to me as we wanted to get closer to nature and better understand what true organic living and farming looks like. As we kicked off, Marin graciously updated us on the regulations in place to ensure our safety with respect to Covid-19. We then set off to his family’s farm for what would be an absolutely unforgettable afternoon. Marin’s passion for his family’s property, the environment and natural produce was incredibly refreshing. His ability to describe daily life and detail the many activities he undertakes to harvest his crops is uncanny. We learned so much and were blown away by Marin’s knowledge of not just farming, but also gastronomy, local and national history, and economics. The property itself is natural and breathtaking. The views of Split and the Klis Fortress were an added bonus. The food? Let’s just say we experienced Croatian hospitality at its absolute finest. This is traditional food that would welcome you at family gatherings however, with several creative and luxurious twists. I can only recommend this experience with Marin and look forward to returning once again. Thank you for an unforgettable afternoon and welcoming us like old friends. A+++

Please take a closer look at this one, as Split is far more than just sea. Marin is a great host and the things he tells you about is things he lives. Just the view from his family farm beats anything. It was amazing to walk the land that was farmed by his family for generations and I really enjoyed the stories and conversation with Marin. I think that was the best place I've visited during my stay in Split.

Marin was a wonderful host. He was extremely flexible so that the experience fit in our very tight schedule while in split. We got the chance to visit the farm in late afternoon and have dinner while looking at the sunset on the beautiful property. Marin shared a lot of great stories and tips about food in general, and more particular aromatics and olive oil. Definitely recommend while in split!! Worth the value
