We’ll start off with a short walk to a meadow surrounded by tall ponderosa pines, with grasses and wildflowers, depending on the season. We’ll head up hill for less than a half-mile and enjoy the views and peacefulness among the aspen trees, where we’ll enjoy an outdoor guided meditation and some solo time in nature for you to connect to the land. As the sky darkens, we’ll lie on the ground or on our group tarp and individual sleeping pads, and watch the stars appear. Unlike a traditional astronomy lecture, throughout our evening we'll weave together ecology and psychology (born of our ecotherapy interest), poetry and neurobiology. We also love to share the history of the area, particularly that of the Native American tribes of New Mexico (Cheryl was born on the Navajo/Dine reservation and we work with a number of Dine friends when bringing guests to Canyon de Chelly).
Il tuo host
Hi nature-lovers! We are Cheryl and Larry, two friends who are outdoor guides, creating deep experiences in nature for personal growth and collective healing. We love helping people connect with nature and have seen how beautiful, powerful, and fun it can be. Being among the trees, mountains and stars can help us rediscover our place in the world, feel more grounded and present, and reconnect with the people and dreams that are most important to us. We've guided thousands of people—including many newcomers to nature—on camping trips, hikes, solos, creativity programs, talking circles, and other adventures. We’re trained in wilderness first aid/WFR, CPR, and ecotherapy, and we have a permit with the Santa Fe National Forest that allows us to take groups into these beautiful wooded mountains.
Lead Feather (www.leadfeather.org) is a nonprofit founded in 2008 to help heal the separation between people and mother earth, in part through partnerships with Native American healers and firekeepers. We bring people into nature for hikes, meditation, art, conversation, ceremony, and silence. We work with Ojibwa, Diné (Navajo), Kenyan, and other partners to create bridges between cultures.
Questa è un'esperienza per il sociale, in cui il 100% dell'importo che paghi viene devoluto a Lead Feather.

Dove ti troverai
The Santa Fe National Forest is only minutes from the plaza but is a true mountain wilderness: fresh, pinon-scented air; beautiful views of the three mountain ranges; and of course fabulous hikes. We’ll be on a trail that is unnamed and unknown…in an area we discovered a few years ago about 20 minutes from town. Few people know of it so we won’t be disturbed during our meditation or star gazing. We can enjoy some true solitude together!
