Cosa farete

Join me for a day (10am - 3pm) and discover how to capture the magic of the macro world of minute plants, mosses, fungi, lichens, insects, spiders and other invertebrates at your feet. The workshop covers how and where to find subjects (tips on finding and 'wrangling' different bugs); camera basics for taking close-ups, what lenses to use, including the use of extension tubes, teleconverters, and close-up ‘filters’, simple lighting techniques and how good composition can transform your shots. After capturing our images we will return to the studio to upload them onto a computer to view and review the results.

Chris

I have nearly 40 years experience with natural history as a marine biology curator at the National Museum of New Zealand (Te Papa). Since my retirement I have continued to enjoy photography and in 2013 established fishHook Publications & Photography that specialises in macro photography, particularly terrestrial and marine invertebrates, fungi etc., but also encompasses birds and other wildlife that can be found in local New Zealand gardens, bush and coastal areas. Macro photography is the art of taking photos of insects, plants and fungi very close up, allowing you to see details in the photo that your eyes would never be able to see. These types of shots can be challenging to take but also an incredibly fascinating and addictive hobby. This introductory workshop is ideal for beginners wanting to learn some macro photography basics
