Cosa farete

*This tour really starts at 9:45am or 12:45pm. Most people can name some grape varietals but not one varietal of cacao although there are many and although chocolate has twice as many flavour compounds as wine! We will learn how complex and diverse cacao is and what the bean-to-bar or craft chocolate movement is. We start at a chocolate factory and learn about cacao production and how chocolate is made plus tasting. We do this with the chocolate-maker and there is so much to learn! Next, we will walk through the Mile-End to a Mexican restaurant where we will eat a mole made with chocolate and we will talk about the history of chocolate. After that, we will continue to walk and explore and learn about the neighbourhood and its food and historical monuments. We will end up in a boutique specialized in cocktail components and accessories for a mocktail. Lastly, we will head to a boutique specialized in single origin chocolate that does confections with chocolate made by Montreal's chocolate makers. We will do a tasting in the style of a wine tasting there, looking for different notes and textures and experiencing the diversity in cacao. Guests will have some time to shop as well.

I would love to take you out to learn about and taste chocolate in Montreal. I own a food tour company called 'Round Table Tours and we have been taking people out to learn about and eat chocolat for 4 years! I also did professional culinary training and I'm a certified tour guide. I have gotten to know the craft or bean-to-bar chocolate movement intimately and its actors. I want you to see it and experience the unique products made in Montreal getting international acclaim and show you the complexity and diversity of cacao. I have also written an e-food guide to Montreal with the Gazette's dining out critic and run tours about Chinatown, Jewish Food, Tea, 3rd Wave Coffee, Cocktail Bars, so I know Montreal's food scene well! You will explore chocolate with me or prize-winning chocolate-maker Daniel. We can guide in French or English.
